I just completed the LTR pensioner, went seamless. A few things to note; first there are some posts that say you can pay various ways. There are only two, cash or Thai bank transfer, that's it. You're at Chomchuri Square and pay at the same Immigration window everyone else does.

The second thing, it reads as if you get a work permit with the LTR visa, you don't. You're just eligible to get one via the BOI-LTR online system and you don't count as a foreign employee. You still have to have a registered Thai company hire/sponsor you. Spare the Mods and post any questions about WP's to the appropriate forums. I don't have anymore information anyway.

Process takes 1-1.5 hours, maybe less. However, if you have the 11-12 appointment slot you may have to come back after lunch. Like all other visa's, after the nice people at the BOI do there thing, the completed docs go to immigration for review and final approval, this can take some time. The last part as always is pay your fee then turn in you're visa application and passport at the Immigration window to be stamped. The only difference is you don't have to Que:)

I'm not including BOI steps here because it will vari and you will have someone assist you start to finish including walking thru the Immigration office and an out-brief when your done.

Good luck all.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The LTR pensioner visa application process is straightforward, requiring payment via cash or Thai bank transfer at the Immigration office. It is important to note that while you can be eligible for a work permit through the BOI-LTR online system, obtaining a work permit still necessitates being hired by a registered Thai company. After the initial processing at BOI, which can take up to 1.5 hours including possible delays depending on appointment times, applicants must submit their visa application and passport for final approval at the Immigration office without needing to queue. Several commenters shared their experiences about document submissions, receiving approvals, and challenges faced when dealing with local banks regarding this specific visa.

I just submitted all the documents requested by the BOI. I got one clarification request and subsequently received the approval letter after about 10 days. Two days later the RTE in London issued my visa.

You do not have to be in Thailand to receive the visa. I got mine from the Royal Thai Consulate in Chicago and printed the visa I received from eVisa (cost $1600 flat using debit card). I showed my visa at CNX and was stamped for 5 years. I did want to note that many banks (BKB, Kasikorn, Krunsgri and etc) have no clue what this visa is when opening a new account and will take long time sifting through paper work with no results.

True, yon can collect your LTR at different consulates. The only issue for me would be having to carry the EVisa print out for 10 years.

BTW with the current exchange it is about $1350.00 USD to do in the BOI office. Good thing you are not in New Zealand! The price that they charge is astronomical!

So anyone from New Zealand that reads this, do it in Thailand!

your absolutely right, but there is much more to it than a 5 year entry. Stamps and endorsements took 2 passport pages. You may want to contact with the BOI to make sure your getting all you paid for. James Miller was nice enough to post how above.

Yes it was pretty seamless. The only painful thing for me was a loud mouth guy spouting off how smart he was and Telling his spouse how smart he was and to tell the BOI people how he smart he was!

Similar, only this guy had an existing visa he hadn't canceled. Very clear you have to do this, the BOI can't do it for you. When I left he was yelling at a supervisor, bet it didn't end well for him:)
