 It's not dodgy agents that the govt cracks down upon, it's dodgy immigration heads that receive bribes. They are the ones which allow/encourage agents. I know this, cos I have first hand experience.

 30 days, yes, and just yesterday got another 30 days as an extension from immigration.

Just did it recently. Train to Malaysia. Stayed 10 sleeps. Air from KL back to Swampy. Great in Malaysia, no dogs - at all!
