Blue pen or black pen? I've seen several takes on ppl having to re-do their forms at Immigration 'cos the colour was wrong.

I'm just about to fill in forms for an extension application (TM7, STM2) and looking for advice on which colour. Thanks in advance!

TLDR : Answer Summary
Most commenters agree that you should use a blue pen for filling out immigration forms in Thailand. The consensus is that using blue ink helps to indicate that the documents are original and not photocopies. However, there are anecdotal experiences suggesting that some immigration offices may accept black ink, notably in Patong, which had mixed reactions to ink color. Overall, using a blue pen is strongly advised to avoid any issues during the application process.

Always use blue just in case

Pattaya insisted on blue pen for my tourist extension last year. Two weeks ago in Patong, anything goes. They laughed at me when I brought my own blue pen and I told them about my previous experience. Blue or black pen in Patong is ok.

Always use blue pen to fill the forms in and sign anything.

ā€œThat is not in Thailandā€ ā€¦ ā€œit might be in Thailandā€ ā€¦ ā€œdonā€™t get confused and think itā€™s in Thailandā€ šŸ˜‚

that is the USA, not Thailand. This is a Thailand visa advise page, unfortunately most people here wouldnā€™t care less if you used red ink in the USA, not meaning to be rude of course, this is about what you use in Thailand.

, actually was yesterday at Chiang Maiā€™s US consulate which happens to be in Thailand.

it might be in Thailand, but it is US territory and US rules, donā€™t get confused and think it is in Thailand.

I just filled in a U.S. passport renewal form in blue and then found out black ink was required.

Good to know. I always use blue, but that was just my preference.

As above. Always blue pen to prove it is original and not photocopy.

Blue is the the colour šŸ’™

Always blue. For some reason they think you are giving them a photocopy if everything is in black.

What if the photocopy is a coloured one? šŸ˜€
