I am currently in Thailand on a marriage visa nearing expiration. Can I apply for a DTV visa within Thailand (US passport), or must it be done through the Thai embassy in Washington DC?

I am aware I can purchase a 60 day extension for the marriage visa.

Hi everyone,

I was previously on a marriage visa and currently on a visa exempt entry that's been extended (30+30 days). I'm trying to get back on the marriage visa, but the 400k baht requirement has been a bit of an obstacle. From my understanding, the 400k baht needs to be in my account for a consecutive 60 days if I wish to apply for the visa at Bangkok.

I will have the 400k baht in my account shortly after my current extension stamp expires. This means I'm going to need a bridge for the next 3 months as I need about a week after my current expiration to have the money ready and then another 60 consecutive days of the money being in my account.

My original plan was to do a 60-day family extension, but that's no longer enough. My new plan is to do a short weekend trip to Kuala Lumpur with my wife at the end of the current extension and fly back in to receive 60+30 days (Dutch passport holder, I assume the new 60 day policy is also for fly-ins).

I'm just here to double-check if all of that looks good2go.. and worst case scenario, if I run into time constraints, I could realistically slap an extra 60 days onto that 60+30 day through a Family Extension based on spouse, correct?

Thanks!!

After thirteen years being together and the village wedding back in 2018, we want to get our marriage certificate. I have US (native) and NZ passports and have divorce decrees from both US and NZ.

Can anyone tell me the steps required to get our marriage certificate from her hometown in Surin? There seems to be conflicting info on different sites.

My main questions are:

* Do I need to go to both embassies with my divorce decrees, or is the last one sufficient?

* Is there a need to also go to the Legalization Division of Consular Affairs Department? I saw this on only one site

Thanks for your insight into this... we'd like the smoothest experience possible!

Okay, I've been marching towards this next move for quite a while with an incomplete understanding of it. My understanding of almost everything is incomplete so it is my comfort zone. Been in Thailand most of the last 2.5 years. With the same lady 2 years of that. Got married in December. I put 400k+ in my Thai account about 5 weeks ago. I've had regular deposits of 80k+ for almost 2 years. I will be headed back to the US for 2 weeks or so end of month/start of March.

My plan is to apply for tourist 60 day for when I return early March. Then apply for marriage visa (or is it "extension of visa based on marriage"?) As the 400k will be more than 2 months old. Then there is some process... And then I'm granted the marriage visa (or extension based on- I'm really unclear on this... It seems like it is just semantics but I've seen plenty of people get jumped on about it) and then another 30 days before I can use the 400k?

Hi everyone.

I am currently on Non-O marriage visa that will expire on 27th of November. Today, 19th of October, I have submitted all my documents for the Non-O visa 1 year extension and the documents were accepted by the Immigration officer. I got a stamp that my extension is under consideration and I will need to come to Bangkok immigration office (Chaengwattana govt. complex) on 27th of November for the decision.

My question is regarding the 400K minimum in my thai Bank account. Will they require to show the balance of 400K minimum on the 27th Nov., when I come for their decision (so in total I need to keep 400K min. at least100 days)? Or is it already done, if they accepted all my documents and now it's the formality to wait till 27th of Nov.? Adding to this - it's my first Non-O marriage visa + extension.

Would appreciate your feedback, who had the experience with this process :)

Greetings once again!

May some one please help with clear info regarding a marriage visa. We have completed all the paperwork necessary and i think im at the last stage of getting it all done.

Currently, my documents are with the local District office; letter from the British Embassy, Translated and Certified and the (Thai) wife-to-be ID etc as well.

Docs are under review/ "checking" at the district office as of today. We've been told that it take 3-4 weeks before we get them back with an actual date to get the marriage done and the certificate issued.

Now, I only have about 3 weeks remaining on my tourist stamp and i am looking for the best route to proceed here.

The TVC Agent suggested getting a Non Immigrant O visa for about 28k -and then the marriage visa for an additional 38k. We have all the docs and money just about ready- (money still needs to be deposited), so it seems a little expensive at this point to complete the final step.

TVC also did mention a 60day "Family visit" visa, which i presume i can obtain once i have the marriage certificate? I have a question regarding that; once i obtain the certificate, hopefully before my 3 weeks are up, may i then do a border bounce giving me more time to get the marriage visa done?

Your input is highly appreciated.
