Doing 60+30 days over and over again as a tourist will imo eventually bite you in the ass, pardon my french. If arriving on a visa exempt, a single or metv tourist visa doesn't officially matter, you're still a tourist. It might work a couple of times, but then you might be questioned by immigration and told to get a proper long stay visa. It's totally up to the immigration officer.
Well, depending on location in the US you do belong to either a Thai embassy or a consulate when applying for a visa. For example, there's a Royal Thai Consulate-General in Los Angeles. Who mentioned a US consulate?
I agree, to start with a 90 days Non-O based on retirement and then annual extensions is imo the way to go, as long as you have a Thai bank account with the required amount of money.
Not correct at all. Immigration has the right to denie entry. A visa is issued by an embassy or consulate which are parts of the MFA. Immigration is a part of The Royal Thai Police. They can see your history as a tourist, and if they think you're abusing the system, they can denie entry. Period.
It's about the time you spent in Thailand and if you extended the stay another 30 days and maybe did border runs. That's when immigration might start asking questions on your next arrival.
Two weeks at the time will never be a problem. But staying 60 days on a visa exempt + one extension and maybe a border run on top of that and THEN coming back on a new 60 days visa exempt. Now you "might" have a problem with immigration.
