they will. The purpose is security screening. They already do it based on the airlines providing ticketed information before you depart. They will extend that to everyone having to do a simple online authorisation before a ticket is issued.

Get a visa and overstay

Get a marriage visa on a marriage of convenience

Get a retirement visa and lie about income

Get a employee or business visa from a dodgy nominee company

Thai is second only to the US in unnecessarily complicated and messy visa procedures. The bureaucracy to support them must be enormous. To make it worse, every time they improve it they just make it more complicated and messy
