Hey I'm running out of room in my passport. I just got a 90 day stamp. Anyone know what the time is to get a new passport from the US embassy?? I heard the new process is just to ship it to them and they ship it back.

TLDR : Answer Summary
If you're running out of space in your passport and need to renew it, the process at the US embassy in Bangkok typically takes between 2 to 9 weeks. Most experiences shared suggest a timeframe of about 2 to 5 weeks for the new passport to be returned after mailing it to the embassy. It's advisable to check the US embassy's official website for specific instructions and requirements, including the need for a passport photo with a white background.

Running out of room ????

90 day stamp is on paper that's stapled into your passport so why are you running out of room ???, or if you don't want a piece of paper in your passport then do your 90 day reporting online.

Go to the US embassy website in Bangkok and follow the process. You'll have to send it there and they'll send the new and old one back to you in 2-5 weeks.

@Wylie ******
can you bring it there and drop it off?

according to chatGPT you can, but need to schedule and appointment online. This wasn't an option when I did it, but that was during covid so it may be possible again now. Just an FYI, the embassy in chaing mai does not do passport renewals, mail in or in person.

Apparently if you do it that way you will get to retain your old passport while you wait for the new one. Which will still take 2-5 weeks.

As you said ship it

They do the work

I got mine in 2.5 weeks
