Business meetings are different - op is clearly working online while here and that is illegal without the appropriate visa/WP. You are confusing what is legal and what they care about - they don't care about people replying to emails and they mostly don't care about people working remotely as long as it's for a foreign company and they're not taking Thai jobs.

Correct. If your airline asks, show them the visa.

Let's say you do get a tourist visa in India (at the embassy per other comments), it's still up to the descretion of the Immigration Officer to let you in and with your history, there is no guarantee. Also, consider not entering via Bangkok - not sure how Phuket Airport is these days, but Chiang Mai still has a reputation for being more relaxed in these cases.

it's not a dumb rule - it was brought in because people were abusing the system and bouncing out and in to live here on visa exempt entries.

Thai Immigration doesn't check for souls, so it should be ok.

Nothing you have to do legally but to make sure they know (mistakes do occasionally happen), I always hand my passport over with the re-entry stamp page open and tell the IO re-entry stamp so they know to look properly. Might not be a problem if your re-entry stamp is on a recent page - mine isn't, but it doesn't hurt to tell them that you have one.

Have you considered not flying via Bangkok and flying into Chiang Mai instead? You're coming from the US, which means you'll have a layover in East Asia and you can fly directly into Chiang Mai from mainland China, South Korea, or Taiwan with a full-service airline. You can also pay excess on discount airlines like HK Express if you fly through Hong Kong.

Sell the power tools - as you're coming from the US, they'll all be 110v and you will need a step-down converter to use them.
