Terry Shurts this last couple of months Chiang Mai has been besieged. It seems the little middle eastern adventure has caused chaos. But as mentioned, at entry you get a ticket based on your needs. You get called for document check. All being well, you get another ticket which is place in a queue for being processed inside. If you want to be quick, get there at 6:30 to get your ticket for document checking. Even then it may take you all day if there are left overs from the day before.

Raffa Rivo most tourists get 2 to 3 weeks vacation. Those covered under the visa waiver program, come, enjoy themselves, then head home.

Those who require 60, 90 days or more are not tourists and are probably scamming the system.

Ou need to apply at the US embassy/consulate. No one can predict whether your application will be accepted.

Paul Darby not correct, there last week. So busy, left and came back at 6:30 am the following day. No problems. I understand it to be 3 days.

Preben Kronborg Nielsen passbook has to be updated same day (Bangkok bank) and agree with cover note and official statement. They are good for a few days. Chiang Mai have never looked at my passbook, just checked against photocopies of every page of passbook.

The Thai Non-Immigrant O-A (Long Stay) visa is a one-year visa for retirees aged 50+ applied for outside Thailand, requiring 800,000 THB in a bank or 65,000 THB monthly income, mandatory health insurance ($100,000 USD coverage), a criminal record check, and a medical certificate. It allows multiple entries and a one-year stay.

Key Requirements for Non-O-A (Retirement)

Age: 50 years or older.

Health Insurance: Must have insurance covering COVID-19 and other illnesses, with at least 3,000,000 THB ($100,000 USD) coverage per policy year.

Financial Capability:

Bank Deposit: 800,000 THB in a Thai bank account, OR

Income: A monthly income of no less than 65,000 THB.

Documents:

Passport with at least 18 months validity (12 months for visa + 6 months for travel).

Criminal record check from the country of nationality/residence.

Medical certificate (valid within 3 months) showing no prohibited diseases (Leprosy, TB, Drug Addiction, Elephantiasis, Third-stage Syphilis).
