I was asked a week ago at the main airport when leaving if I had receipt for my extension. I had previously maxed out a METV then came back visa exempt one time which I had the extension for. Another officer looked at my passport then they let me carry on through.
I was quoted “I can not let you in the country as you have been here for over 180 days as a “regular tourist”- you will have to see my superior by the border immigration officer. I had recently maxed out my METV and then gone away for 6 weeks in other countries before trying to fly back in to DMK. I was allowed in since I had a genuine reason. So beware if been in country for this period under these circumstances if trying to re-enter. Consider the entry point carefully.
Adrian just reading though the conversations here… what you really need to establish is how many days have you already been in Thailand over the past 12 months. If you have been in country under 180 days total then you shouldn’t have trouble flying in baring any extensive COVID history. If you’ve used the 2 land border entries on visa exempt already this year then those are out of the question. If you have been at around or over 180 days then expect to be questioned and have a good reason to be allowed further entry, especially at Bangkok airports. Other airports seem to be more lenient.
Book a short flight to KL and book a rental next to an eatery/mall where you can re-cooperate . Inquire with your airline for wheelchair assistance onto the plane.
if you use the recommended Thai Visa service, make sure you check your documentation before going back in through the checkpoint to make sure the people filling in your forms for you took note of you METV. I saw they had written down 30 days instead of 60 days re-entry request for me so asked one of the guys from the company to fix up. Otherwise it was an efficient half day trip.
google the visa run service in your area and see what it says on their web page as to whether they require any nightly stays at their border checkpoint that they use
