Hello, my situation seems complex. I want to go to Thailand in January for eventual retirement. I receive a yearly payout of nearly 800k on January 1, not monthly payments. But I will need some of that to live on, so can’t tie it up in a Thai bank for months.
I don’t currently have 500k for the DTV, and I understand that I need to show a bank statement with that amount for 3 months before applying for a DTV. So, I can apply April 1.
What visa makes the most sense when I go in January?
Is it reasonable to have “some kind” of visa until April 1, then apply for a DTV, then get an over 50/retirement visa when I can leave 800k in a Thai bank?
Do I need a special type of visa to rent a condo in Bangkok and travel between the US and Bangkok? Plan would be to rent a place there and stay in BKK for 2-3 weeks every other month or so and when not there be back in the US.
Possible? Will a standard tourist visa work? Can I rent a yearly condo with this type of set up?
Hi .. I have been coming in to Thailand on a visa exempt ( 60 days) . Each time , my stay duration is from a week to 45 days . Never overstayed . I will be applying for a non O ( 3 months + 12 ) and bank account using an agency in Bangkok the next time I fly into Thailand . However , that would be my 7 visa exempt entry this year , and slightly less than 180 days in total . I was told I would not be allowed in . Can anyone confirm this? I have also bought return tickets which i won’t be using once my non O is finalized . Can someone who has experienced going into Thailand more than 6 times in a year , tell me their experience and how I should deal with it .
Good afternoon group. Can anyone confirm the current arrangements for a tourist visa on arrival? It was 30 days, then they increased it to 60 days but I read it was being abused & they were going to put it back to 30 days. But I didn’t hear anymore. I will be there December 28 for 35 days. I will leave Thailand during this time & return there at some point. I could of course buy a bus ticket across the border but only as a last resort. Thx.
I arrived here on a visa exempt. I will apply here at immigration for a non o visa based of visiting family (my thai hustband)
Do anyone know what happends when I get the visa. Do I have to leave Thailand and come back for the non o visa to be activated? And if so, can I just boarder bounce? By plane? Or have to stay outside thailand a certain days?
Also when its approved, if I do have to leave, how fast after its approved to I have to leave?
Thank so much in advance and i am grateful for any help 🫶
I am on a retirement Visa and left Thailand and came back in yesterday, without doing re -entry stamp before I left, and they said we can give you one month free but you must go to Jomtien immigration office and talk to them about how to get your original one-year visa back into effect. Does anybody know if this is going to be possible?.?
Is it possible to activate a METV with a border run after arriving on a visa exempt?
The case is basically that the METV is applied for but might not get issued in time. Can you fly in on visa exempt and then a week later when the evisa METV gets emailed, do a border run and then get in on that METV?
A friend plans to stay around 6 Months in Thailand and I heard if only on visa exempt, it's more difficult to stay that long, because of rejections at border runs without real visas.
Side info: he's from germany, not been in Thailand over 1 year.
I was in Thailand March 2025 for 10 days, then again May 2025 for 90 days, I had extension on Tourist visa. I am going back in September, flights booked for 55days
