Hello all!

I have a small predicament. My family is moving to Bangkok in may/June and while my husband will be getting a DTV, I’m not sure what I should do. We have a couple kids with us so this is where it gets complicated. While I know we can attach to the DTV as dependents, I’m in university for a TESL degree and need to start an internship in August. If I’m correct, I believe I can’t be on the DTV if I’m also on an education visa for my internship. But… my husband has to fly back to the states in July alone so the kids (who will be on his DTV) will be left with me in BKK. Curious how we should work this… would it be more beneficial to hold off on applying for the DTV until after he gets done in the states (it’s only a 2 week trip), and just hang out on visa exempt for a couple months??

I intend to visit (visa exempt) for 45-55 days before leaving to Laos or Vietnam. Flying in from Aus. Given I'm not sure when I'll leave Thailand (definitely before the 60 days though) will I need an onward ticket of some sort? Potentially for both the Airline (Jetstar) or Thai immigration or both? Feel like I'll leave Thailand from Nong Kai by land rather than fly, although nothing is concrete atm. Help appreciated.

I currently have the Visa on Arrival stamp and can stay in Thailand until March 11. However, I will be traveling to Vietnam for 10 days in early February to apply for the DTV visa. What happens if the visa application is denied and I have to return to Thailand? Can I still stay until March 11? Technically, I’ve already used up my allowed days with the tourist visa since I was here for 90 days before. But first I need to go back to my condo in case I have to leave... 😬

DTV reset- land border

I have a DTV and am using a land border run company to go to Cambodia. I actually have been in Thailand less than 90 days on a visa, but I am planning to exit because I did not get a visa for my young child, who entered visa-exempt. I did not get the DTV for her at the same time I did because I don't plan to use the DTV much longer than a few months at a time. I am using the land border company because it is the most efficient way to get a new entry stamp. However, I've been informed that the border agent has never encountered a DTV visa and will charge an extra 1500 baht for an entry stamp for 180 days. Their reasoning is that an entry stamp for a longer period should cost more than the base fee . I objected to this but the visa company says they cannot override the border agent's decision. I may just overlook this as unfamiliarity with new visa and pay it to avoid any problems. Just looking for advice on this or advice on if it is even a good idea to get a new 60-day stamp this way.

American on Visa Exempt. How do I extend? Is that still in person or online? The site i found closest option was for a tourist visa but it's not technically a tourist visa.

Hi - what would be the best way to stay 4-6 months in Thailand? I will be coming from UK

Single Entry Visa: 60+30 days (90 total). A border run should give me another 60 days if I am correct when I arrive back at immigation, for 5 months total?

Multiple Entry Visa: 60+30 days (90 total). A border run will give me another 60+30 days automatically upon re-entering Thailand for up to 6 months total?

I was hoping to do a border run by air after the 80 day mark, is it important that I stay in the neighbouring country for atleast 1 night with the single or multiple entry visa, or will it not make a difference for the latter as the visa has already been pre-approved?

Thank you!

People keep saying you can’t keep coming in on a 60 day visa exempt. We have been travelling Asia the last 3 years, so end up coming into Thailand app 3 or 4 times a year. If I shouldn’t be using visa exempt people say get dev. But we aren’t working we are travelling, so don’t fit the requirements. What else should we do?We are not retiring here either, so the visa exempt is our only option that I know of. Any advice on this would be appreciated.
