Hello 🙏

May I have your advice regarding visa extension? I am in the Kingdom with 2 months tourist visa.

My first degree relatives are on retirement visa.

I plan to extend the stay.

Is there any other options apart from the straight forward one month tourist visa extension?

Thanks in advance for your advice 😊

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks advice on extending a 2-month tourist visa in Thailand, while noting that their close relatives are on retirement visas. The responses suggest that the primary method available is a straightforward 30-day extension for the tourist visa. However, if the user is from a country eligible for visa exemption, they could consider a border run to obtain another 30-day stamp, which can subsequently be extended, totaling up to 5 months of stay in Thailand. For additional stay, they might also explore obtaining a 60-day visa through border run companies.

If you are from a country that has visa exempt then at the end of your extension go do a border run with a border run company. Google for them in your area. They will take you by van to the border and help facilitate re-entry with a new 30 day stamp which you can then extend a further 30 days at immigration. That would get you a total of 5 months . If you want an additional month total then you could use them to facilitate another 60 day visa. Usually a half day trip. More information will be on the border/visa run company’s website page

Visa runs are 2 or 3 days now because no neighbouring Embassies/Consulates now issue same day Visas and many also require an appointment

google the visa run service in your area and see what it says on their web page as to whether they require any nightly stays at their border checkpoint that they use

Unless you have Thai relatives, the only option from a tourist visa is the 30 day extension, and then after that you will have to leave.
