I have a Canadian passport. I applied and obtained a non-immigration visa in sept 2019 and I entered thailand with visa same month, sept 2019. I was stamped then with a one year stay.

i am applying next week for an O-A visa to thailand in Los Angeles. Later, when i arrrive in Chiang Mai, i will apply for a tourist visa to India, and China.

Thank you so much all for the information! so helpful! One more question is if NY consulate wouldn't mind me applying in NY, even if my legal address is in California (NY more convenient for me to travel to than LA). Basically, did the consulate ask for proof of address or not.

i went to immigration office in Chiang Mai. What i understood from agent is that i can go straight from 'tourist visa VOA' to retirement visa, as long as you satisfy the financial requirement. They didn't mention non-O. But i hear you and i will double check.
