re-entry permit for O-A (retirement) visa: my understanding is that i don't need to apply for re-entry permit with a new O-A visa. I only need re-entry permit the second year, if i do an extension?

TLDR : Answer Summary
For the O-A (retirement) visa holders, a re-entry permit is not required upon entering Thailand with a new O-A visa. It becomes necessary only when applying for an extension in the second year.

As long as you enter Thailand before the valid until date mentioned on this multiple entry non immigrant o-a visa you get 1 year of Admitted of stay stamped on your passport.
