@Tod ********
thx for the answer. Didn’t expect anything else from the thai bureaucracy 😣but at least I know what do do now 👍

Thx for the info , but maybe it would also be useful to have an overview WHAT land borders are currently open again? I mean for individual travelers coming INTO Thailand? As far as I know, it’s just Sadao right ?

@Tod ********
thx but the extension is still valid until 1st of May. Just went to immigration last Friday

Seems they are starting to get back to normal! Pre-covid that was a common thing, especially at DMK airport.

There will be a point, where even staying a few weeks out, won’t help you anymore. At that point your solution is to get the proper visa or use friendly land-borders(which can’t be accessed right now.)

I got nearly denied back in 2018 after lots of back to back METV. Just saved my a** as my gf had the right contacts in the government through friends of her. They made a phone call to immigration and after 4 hours I finally was able to pass immigration.

Funny fact is that I entered Thailand several times after that incident at BKK airport flying first and business class, until covid started. They always welcomed me back and had no issues at all. (the time I got nearly denied was arriving in Economy class)

However…as a rule of thumb before covid : spending more than 180 days/year in Thailand on the wrong visa was a red flag .

@Ellie ******
so in that case the just one extension per stay doesn’t count? I can have 30 days AND 60 days based on marriage. thx as I thought it’s limited to either 30 days tourist extension OR 60 days based on marriage
Philip ****
@Tod ********
thx. So I’ll go that way: Tourist visa (marry within those 60 days) - 60 days extension based on marriage- fly back to my home country and apply for a 1 year multiple entry Non o marriage which they offer for around 7k THB. As I fly out of Thailand anyway every 8-12 weeks, that’s the best solution for me for now

@Ellie ******
can you confirm that 100%? I always thought you do NOT need the 400k for the 90days NON O, just need it 60 days before you apply for that 1 year extension (which I won’t apply for)Just to clarify. Not married yet, that’s why I said tourism visa and change it to NON O 90 days after I got the marriage documents.

Look for „onward tickets“ after 30days. That will work. Most embassies don’t accept a return flight >30 days on visa exemption , even they are fully aware, that you can extend it 1x for 30 days within Thailand
