Can I enter Thailand on a TR visa, marry, and then apply for a 1-year extension based on marriage?

I have a question regarding that 1yr extension of marriage. I know all about the 400k 2 month before in the bank account etc. However, do I have to enter Thailand with a 90 days Non O visa issued in my home country to be able to apply for that 1yr extension? Or can I enter with a TR visa, marry within those 2 months, apply for the 60 days extension based on marriage AND apply after that for the 1yr extension?

I ask, as German institutions are giving me a headache with their delays, so my original plan to marry next month and enter with the NON O in January won’t work.

Thx a lot

TLDR : Answer Summary
You can enter Thailand with a TR visa, get married within two months, and then apply for a 60-day extension based on your marriage. Following that, you can apply for a one-year extension of stay. It's crucial to note that you cannot get a Non-O visa based on marriage to a Thai national until you are legally married.

I'm going to close commenting.

1. This is not a "how do I get married in Thailand" group. A foreigner getting married to a Thai requires certain documents issued from their embassy, and the length of time required to get those documents are specific to each person.

2. A person can not get a Non-O Visa Based on Marriage to a Thai National until they are legally married. A Non-O Visa based on Marriage to a Thai National does not allow a person to get married in Thailand.

3. A person *CAN* enter Thailand on a 60 day single entry visa, get a 30 day extension of stay based on tourism, and then get an in-country Non-O Visa Based on Marriage to a Thai National after they are married.

I don't see the point in keeping commenting open, sadly. Thank you.

If you are NOT married, you can not get a Non-O visa based on marriage to a Thai national.

You can enter on a 60 day tourist visa, open a bank account in Thailand, get legally married, transfer the 400K THB into the bank account, and apply for an in-country Non-O visa based on marriage to a Thai national (assuming your immigration office offers this visa - they should). When you have 45 days or less remaining on the visa (30 for some immigration office), apply for a one year extension of stay based on marriage to a Thai national.

sorry to say. You won't be able to get legally married within a 60 days time frame, if you are a German national. The affirmation of getting married from your German "Standesamt" and it's legalization by the German Embassy Bangkok alone will take much longer than that

read my comment carefully! That’s the exact problem I have and why I can’t marry next month and won’t be married, when I go back to Germany early December. So no 90 days NON O from the Thai embassy, but a tourist visa to marry early next year. I’m in the middle of the process to get the affirmation. However, that plus the confirmation of the German embassy after that will take approximately 2 months.

CW issues those Non-O visas based on marriage inside Thailand. You DO need *at least* 15 days remaining on your existing "admitted to" stamp before they can issue the Non-O visa though.
