There have been mixed reports. Some are saying they were not permitted to board aircraft, and others were saying once they get to Thailand they were slammed into hospital quarantine until they tested negative. It seems there's no straight answer.
OA you can use home country funds and if borders are open you can effectively get two years from the one visa, without having to apply for extension. O (married to a Thai) you need money in Thailand (400k) but it's cheaper than the 800k required for retirement visa
London Joe. If you don't have the funds you don't meet the requirements of the visa, so it's a visa obtained "under the table". You have to wear the consequences if you're caught.
Greg Bewick.. I'm due a trip to the UK end of this month, and was ok with the Phuket sandbox on my return - in fact quite looking forward to it. Insurance and all the other requirements didn't bother me. Then the positive test cases went from something like 0.7% up about 6%. Still a low number I agree, but it's steadily climbing and I have to now reassess the importance of this trip. I certainly don't want to get whacked into one of those "covid jails" merely because I test positive with no symptoms
