TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion explores the complexities of traveling from Thailand to Dubai while holding a long-term visa. Key points raised include potential quarantine requirements upon returning to Thailand, the necessity of reentry permits for long-term visa holders, and general advice on immigration procedures in the wake of COVID-19. Participants share both concerns about travel restrictions and personal experiences, with suggestions from booking a flight to considering alternative travel plans.

If it's single entry or an extension of stay get a reentry permit before leaving

Book a flight and go! It's not rocket science.

I am just going through the visa process. I allowed for 15 working days, as suggested. If you did the same, your 1 week in Dubai becomes 3 - 4. I still have the headache of getting Thai pass. Seriously, this time around, post covid, I am strongly considering alternative to Thailand. Love the country, hate the immigration restrictions.

Considered a side trip into Cambodia to get another 30 days on my Visa but the costs are too great, procedures are too involved, and there are too many negative possibilities.

If your Dubai trip is not essential I would seriously reconsider right now. Flying there is not such a big problem, but returning is a headache. You will either have to spend seven days in a hotel room quarantine, or (better option) spend seven days in one of the sandbox options (Phuket, Krabi etc). The big danger is if you test positive on your return you could find yourself banged into hospital quarantine. Be aware

I am pondering the same. Our annual planning meeting is in February. It is when we ask for budget for the next year. We are meant do be doing this in Amsterdam or Dubai. I am fine with quarantine coming back - all on expenses. It is hospital I do not want.

Greg Bewick.. I'm due a trip to the UK end of this month, and was ok with the Phuket sandbox on my return - in fact quite looking forward to it. Insurance and all the other requirements didn't bother me. Then the positive test cases went from something like 0.7% up about 6%. Still a low number I agree, but it's steadily climbing and I have to now reassess the importance of this trip. I certainly don't want to get whacked into one of those "covid jails" merely because I test positive with no symptoms
