This was another issue, I tried getting a "residence certificate" at immigration but they denied it since my TM30 was invalid. I'm staying at an Airbnb and the "owner" is Italian. I asked him for a TM30 and his co-host sent me one. When I gave them all the paperwork at immigration they said the TM30 didn't have the "title deed" or something like that. Now my only hope is to sign a year lease, bring that to Kasikorn Bank, and hope they let me open up an account. What a friggin headache.

I plan to use Kasikorn since they seemed to be the most receptive of the four major banks I tried. How risky is what you just suggested? Would I be safer just to transfer another 800k via wire transfer to avoid all potential denials from the immigration agent?

So the residency certificate is the first thing I need to get before going to the bank right? The office at Bangkok: Chaeng Wattana Immigration?

Ah ok that's good I guess since now everyone says Bangkok Bank isn't good for the Non-O anymore. Wonder what the other banks are requiring.

I think I'm leaning towards getting an AIrbnb for one month. I'll open a bank account asap when I get there.

This is what I'm hearing, you can't use them anymore for the Non-O when you get to Thailand.

Yes I'm in the US, and getting the Non O. The visa agents seem to be way overpriced.

I saw that some people were having problems opening up a Thai bank account, but I think that was on the tourist visa.
