If you plan to live in UK for 6 months and Thailand for 6 months, your simplest and cheapest option would be tourist visas which will not permit any Work activities.

If you plan to settle in the UK then you need to obtain a Family Settlement Visa as a Spouse. This is valid for 2y 9m and after 2y 6m you have to apply for an extension, for a further 2y 9m… and again, after 2y 6m (when you are in UK for a total of 5yrs) you can apply for permanent residency or citizenship, depending if she meets the criteria and passes the Life in UK test and also a B1 level ULATS English Speaking test. She will need a minimum ULATS A1 level speaking test for Visa number 1. Then a minimum A2 test for the extension, and a B1 level for Perm Residency or Citizenship. My wife just went straight for B1 which covers all future requirements. She will also need to have a Tuberculosis Lung Xray, and if there are any shadows on the Xray, she’ll need to perform a Sputum sample so the examiners can test for traces of infection. Both Xray and ULATS are done in Bangkok. There are links ok .gov.uk website for recognised centres.

On a Family settlement visa, your Wife can work from day 1 in UK, but is not entitled to any financial benefits. But she can register for a Dr on the NHS because that is why you pay the Healthcare Contribution Fee, approx £3000 now, along with the visa application fee, approx £2000…. Obviously prices will go up, but both NHS Fee and Visa Application fee will need to be paid for again when applying for the Extension visa and again when applying for Perm Residency….and the NHS fee is not offset if your wife works and pays Tax & National Insurance!

Good luck - hope you get your visa and have a happy life together 👍🏻

@Brook *******
yeah, I get that….

I meant why have different interest rates depending how much Baht you deposit…when all the interest rates are the same irrespective how many Baht you deposit

@Brook *******
i’m struggling to see what differences there are between the deposit amount and the interest rate provided over the Term… 🤣. Or maybe I am missing something???🤦🏻‍♂️

Depends on your Nationality….

For UK nationals/passport holders, 3 times in rolling 6 months - and that info is from the Thai Embassy!

Not sure if you are aware, but there is a Facebook Group called:

JOBS FOR FOREIGNERS IN THAILAND

Join this group who may also be able to help? Also, I have seen many people asking for Private tutors, and also advertising Vacancies for Teachers to work in Schools/Universities

Good luck - hope this helps…

It will vary on the amount you transfer - but typically, for

baht, about £445, I will pay £5 fee (i.e. £400 plus £5 making £445)
