TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is facing a problem with renewing their retirement visa as they have not maintained the required 800,000 THB in their bank account for the required duration. Response suggestions include: ensuring the correct amount is back in the account two months prior to the application, considering the hiring of an agent for assistance, the need to provide bank statements, and options to leave Thailand and reapply if unable to meet the requirements. There are also discussions on the nuances of visa regulations and whether agents can facilitate the process, with some sharing personal experiences and recommendations.

As many have said. An agent is your only chance if you've fallen out from the rules but theyll sort it no sweat

I’ve been in this situation due to misunderstanding the requirements. Go to an immigration office, be polite, explain your situation, and if you’re lucky enough to get a reasonable immigration officer, they will show you how to solve the problem. You don’t need an agent but it might make it easier, and it will cost about 20,000 baht or so. The other option is to leave the country and re-enter but that will likely cost that much or more, is a pain, and could go wrong. Good luck.

I believe you can compensate the lack of funds in the bank if you can show monthly income coming in to the bank. Maybe someone can explain…

you know what he means. So not only do you take the time to post "you're wrong" but you don't even take the time to add the extra keystrokes to explain to him the difference between a visa and an extension.

I will never understand people who use social media this way. You must be fun at parties.

As far as I know it’s only Jomtien immigration who requires seasoning for the initial Non O as well.

Technically your visa has ended on the day your money dropped below the requirements. At CW office, agents can sort this out provided that you add it back up to the 800K before you go to immigration.

The prices are used to be around
*****
extra to the officers, plus the usual 1900 fee, and the agent himself for the service is around 3000-4000.

if you are dealing with "agents," that's the way to go. If you prefer to do the right way, you have to leave the country to restart from a non O visa.

baht. Go to an agent and ask them to help you. Of course you'll have to pay the agent as well

Next time, put ฿805,000 in a dedicated fixed deposit account paying 2.5%, at a separate bank, and don’t ever touch it.

For this current crises, either see if an agent can help you or start over.

The 800k is not a lifetime thing, If you regularly transfer funds to Thailand the 800k is needed for less than 6 months then 400k for about 7 months. The 800k can be recycled internationally if required for the 65k monthly transfers.

in some offices. Yes, I know.

This has nothing to do with allegedly being required to withdraw money on the day of visa renewal.

No, but it has to do with finding an account with a higher interest rate for a period of 6 months, hardly worth it

I would never be comfortable with a visa renewal scheme where I had to trust banks to reliably transfer ฿65k every month - so it’s ฿800k for me at 2.5% annual interest.

if you deposit ฿800,000 and don’t withdraw it for 48 months you receive 2.5% interest annually.

yeah, I get that….

I meant why have different interest rates depending how much Baht you deposit…when all the interest rates are the same irrespective how many Baht you deposit

When I renew my marriage visa I have to show money coming in and going out on the day of application. Is this not the same for retirement visa?

@Ken ******
What?

Marriage visa requires ฿400,000 bank balance, right?.

Maybe you have to deposit ฿1 on the day of the application to show an updated bank book?

Different provinces sometimes different rules.

I doubt any immigration office anywhere requires you to make a withdrawal in order to renew a marriage visa.

I think you might misunderstand the procedure.

it may also help if you can reply and complete, coherent sentences.

The 800,000 needs to be back in your account 2 full months (not 3 months) before you apply for your extension.

It also needed to be at 800,000 for 3 months after your previous extension and never dropped below 400,000 in between.

You'll need to provide 12 months of bank statements as part of your extension application to ensure you met these requirements.

If you fail to meet them then you do not get an extension. You must leave Thailand and start the process over from the beginning.

Some offices such as Nakhon Phanom still require it to be back in your account three months before renewal.
