Quick question so I came to Thailand for a holiday 31 dec - departed 27 Jan

Then came back for a holiday feb 20 departed 20 march

Then again 30 march to 26 April

Each time flying from the uk and back to the uk and they where all just holidays love the place and I've worked for 5 years no holidays prior -

I've now seen you can only go to Thailand 3 times in 6 months ??

I want to go again in may around the 15th working my arse off until then - is this possible ??

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquired about the possibility of traveling to Thailand again after multiple prior trips, citing concerns about a reported limit of three entries within six months. Responses clarified that there is no strict three-time limit, and entry is ultimately determined by immigration officers, who may inquire about the purpose of the visits. Suggestions included obtaining a tourist visa to avoid complications and ensuring proof of accommodation, onward travel, and sufficient funds for the trip.

I have the same problem.i already have booked my 3rd trip this year but it means I will re enter Thailand via Vietnam for a 4th visa exemption...went to Suvarnabhumi today and asked..this was there reply after examination of my passport..the embassy in London has the wrong advice..they said it always happens. They are not immigration officials..you can enter Thailand as much as you like by plane..smiled were very polite..I guess they are only looking for people who abuse system...I have also stayed only 3 weeks out of the 30 day stamp

yes I saw information saying you can enter Thailand as many times as you like by air and then also the 3 times in 6months so it was confusing

It really is a nuisance that this Thai embassy in London published that crap. They are the official go to place for accurate information on entry rules. If they publish a new rule, we must normally not believe that they made a mistake, but that the rule has changed or else they everyone else is wrong. But no, here they are just blatantly wrong. Very, very bad. Also gonna lead to problems with airlines now refusing boarding based on unjust grounds, etc.

Depends on your Nationality….

For UK nationals/passport holders, 3 times in rolling 6 months - and that info is from the Thai Embassy!

the embassies are run by the MFA. What a single embassy writes on their website makes no difference as immigration decides who gets into the country and it's a completely different government agency.

There is no 3 times per 6 month rule in any government agency or any law that says as much either.

The Thai embassy in London does not make policy for Thailand or immigration.

call Thai embassy in your country. Also they can put visa in your passport.

There is no such limit, each entry is up to the Immigration Officer with your passport. They look for people abusing the system. You haven't been warned yet so there should be nothing in the system as you're likely to get a "Must get Visa next time" sometime.

Make sure you have the 3 proofs :

- proof of accommodation (e.g. hotel bookings for at least a few days)

- proof of onward travel (an international travel ticket leaving Thailand within your permitted-to-stay period, i.e. 30 days for visa exempt or 60 days for a Tourist Visa and

- proof of funds (20,000B or equivalent in any major currency in CASH per individual, or 40,000B for a family)

I fly in and out 4 or 5 times a year normally staying 1 to 2 months with a border jump, but same as you a one way ticket and pending on work when I return but never had an issue or pulled up or asked about accommodation,, but I do have a house and twin daughters there, a lot of FIFO workers fly in and out every month with no issues, so I think you will be ok.

There is no 3 times in 6 months rule regardless of what you find online.

That being said you've spent a lot of time in Thailand without a long term visa. I'd recommend at least getting a tourist visa before traveling to Thailand. You can do it online and it will help prevent you from getting pulled out of line and interviewed for 1-2 hours about what you're doing.

It's no guarantee though.

Most country’s regard stay’s longer than 3 months as being non touristic, That’s why travel insurances, international drivers license etc. normaly is only valid for up to 3 month.

Try checking out the rules about tourists coming to your country of residence, and you will experience that they are pretty similar to Thailands

they've gotten much more strict since covid about people spending a lot of time in Thailand without a long term visa. Doesn't really matter what you're doing, just that you're not on a long term visa. A tourist visa can help since it's slightly better than arriving without a visa, but if you keep up the same cadence you're on, you're likely to get pulled out of line and warned about stopping or be denied entry.

if I get a tourist visa will this prevent them from stopping me ? Also just curious what is the worry about people return often ? Surely it's good for their economy me spending my money there ?

@Ryan *******
it won't stop it but it will probably give you another entry or two before it happens.

And you cannot live in another country without the proper visa. After a certain amount of time, regardless of what you're doing, you're abusing the intention of the visa by living there and not being a tourist.
