Exchanging £50 notes in Thailand is possible, but certain conditions must be met. Currency exchanges only accept notes that are in pristine condition—no tears, rips, or any signs of wear like writing or marks. Many users recommend ordering new or 'mint' notes from UK banks before traveling to ensure successful exchanges. Some exchanges may offer slightly better rates for £50 notes compared to smaller denominations. Overall, while there are no major barriers to exchanging £50 notes, maintaining their condition is critical for acceptance.

Not easy to change use £20 notes

No
Typically the exchanges like Clean £5/£10/£20 notes.
Clean means no heavily creased notes, no Writing on the notes and no tears in them

...you have to wash and iron it carefully .

Go to any of the Super Rich branches either at the airport or other branches. You will get a better rate for £50 notes. I never had a problem. In addition, carrying small notes take up too much space when travelling. Most banks in the UK now dispense £50's from cash machines.
Dennis **********
Not easily ,you have to do the macarana whilst humming the national anthem then they might give you the proper rate
Brian **********
Yes, I always take £50 notes to Thailand
Spencer *******
Was at super rich at the airport yesterday you actually get .10 thb better rate for 50 over the lower denominations.
I sure that was true , however in general the airport rate is usually well below what you can get out side so I personally wouldn’t advise anyone to change any more than essential maybe taxi ect at the airport
only the new notes. I have the older ones and they are rejected in Thailand and Philippines. I reached out to a friend in the UK and he said they are now obsolete. A pity I hung on to a few of them too long
Jo **********
they did

Nine bob notes are fine, as long as they're not bent.
Dave ********
They prefer them as long as they are in mint condition
Paul *******

Chris *********
£50 notes are best imo because they are rarely used in Uk so are usually in better condition. Also you might get a slightly better rate
Vinay ********
I found the prices are the same whichever notes you use as long as they are clean and crisp
You are correct , When I go to Thailand I use Superrich and they are very selective about the appearance /Condition . I have a joke with my Bank -I ask if they can iron my 50 pound notes .....😁

Yes, and some places (eg Superrich) will give a slightly better rate for them.

Get new notes order from your bank any mark especially pen mark or writing they definitely won’t take them.

Yes I asked this question just yesterday..
Eroll *********
If the are mint.
You get a very good (probably the best rate at the airport. But only in the basement. It’s a 8% difference with upstairs.
I usually order my £50 notes to the bank, it’s not a big difference in Superrich stores in Thailand, I think you’d get maybe 100 baht extra per £500 or something so it’s not exactly massive money

Yes but the notes need to be perfect, they prefer the £50 notes anyway and you’ll get a tiny bit more baht for them (its not a lot but anything is better than nothing)

Chicks at nana will love em

As long as they are in near perfect condition, no problem, however I did have a problem once in Patong, I was issued the £50 along with many others by the Midland bank in the Uk, the exchange teller said it was fake, within minutes two policemen arrived, I was asked if I had more £50 pound notes, I said yes in my hotel room safe. I was escorted on the back of a police motorcycle back to my hotel, where they inspected every single £50 note. They said they were all good and left. They even gave me back the “fake” and told me not to try to cash it anywhere else and return it to my Uk bank. I did, my bank said it wasn’t fake and credited my account £50 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
you may never have seen one but I've had a number over the years. Still legal tender but difficult to spend in the UK outside Scotland where they are readily accepted. They are also accepted at currency exchanges in Thailand
All GBP notes inc. £50 need to be pristine condition no rips and definitely no writing or marks on them 👍

Thanks for advice will make sure they are mint

Unmarked & not torn in any way. When you withdraw in the U.K. you should mention this to the bank and give them notice. Check them while still in the bank. Tell them you need pristine notes.

No problem with £50 notes but as with all notes they tend to be very fussy. No writing, no tears, no dirty marks. Need to be in very good condition
Duncan **********
Yes no problem if perfect condition. I had 2 that weren't perfect and couldn't get anyone to exchange
Stephen ********
Yes, but all notes whatever value or currency have to be near perfect, without tears, rips or any marks of any kind.
Paul ********
You can cachet more for £50’s just make sure they have no marks or tears as they won’t take them
