I’m returning for the second time in August. I have communicated many times by email with the Embassy- I have a paper trail. They advised me to get a 6 month multiple entry tourist visa. I plan to visit other countries and I think there in lies the problem. There has been political unrest at the Northern and most Southern borders ie Laos and Cambodia. I think they’re just trying to protect people. If you can’t properly identify yourself with the appropriate visa then perhaps we shouldn’t be going there. That’s my take.

I did read somewhere that the visa exempt period is cumulative for one calendar year. It doesn’t need to all be in the same visit. I also read in a post that one women arrived and was told her next visit in the same year needed to be a tourist visa. I’d check it out.

that sounds ideal actually? What did you teach? I was told by a couple of folks that with 8 years of post-secondary education, I should be applying to universities. I don’t have a Ph. D., I didn’t go that route. Mine is an English literature background at two of the top 15 universities in Canada and one very recognized college. Any particular universities you can recommend with a strong Arts/Humanities Dept?

Thanks for all the info folks. Ive been to Thailand twice in the last year. Love the country and love the people. I was super excited when I finally made the decision to relocate, but some of these very honest comments are making me reconsider …sadly…😕
