Just wanted to notify that I just flew into Thailand today at DMK airport. They are going at it with extra questioning with tons of people having to fill a statement form as well, especially visa-exempt entries. The questioning area was packed. My TDAC was completed before my trip.
I was pulled aside and questioned for an hour because I was going to enter on my 2nd exempt entry. This is the first air-entry in the last 3 years and they still went at it. I kept on providing proof for everything they asked me and I was finally allowed to enter. They warned me to not enter without a visa next time. I thought it was excessive since many people have reported multiple back to back visa-free stays with no issue. I leave in 29 days. Not 60 or 90, so I don't know why I was treated as if I was trying to live here off exempt stays.
Also most others seemed to have issues since they had no booked flight back, as expected.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A recent firsthand account from an expat sharing their experience upon entering Thailand through DMK airport, highlights increased scrutiny from immigration officers particularly regarding visa-exempt entries. This expat faced extensive questioning and the requirement to complete a statement form during their entry, raising concerns over what appeared to be stricter immigration policies. Despite having followed regulations, they were warned about future entries without a visa after their second visa-exempt entry entry within a year, suggesting a shift in immigration practices. Various comments from the community reflect differing experiences, strategies for successful entry, and implications that tightening visa rules may discourage tourism.
Of course I totally agree with u. I've lived and worked there without incident but nowadays no one knows what the rules are. The government keeps on changing whatever the previous government set as law. Ur visas, 30,45 then 60. Giving random countries longer visa exemptions. Cannabis rules are already in the toilet. Even stupid things like not getting a beer from a

Get a grip or The Thailand will become a tourist desert. So many other countries close by are far more accommodating.
but it's so damn sad though you knowšššš out of all the relationships I've ever been in with any other type of women in the world Thai women just let you go like a bird being free from a cage or they just straight up block you. You can pull every trick in the book be as smooth and slick as you can you're never most the time if you find a good woman going to get her to sleep with you in the first night because they actually think about stuff rather than just hop in the bed and have fun like most other cultures I love Thailand and I'll never forget Thai women
agreed but they really are just money pots. We have all done it over the years. Nowadays I have a gf who is 54 and stunning. And she never asks me for a bean, but... She's also taking care of her Ill bf and obviously as he has no family she's hanging fire for when he pops his clogs. U can take a Thai girl out of Thailand but u can't take Thailand out of the girl.

Rules are rules...every country has its own.
The Thai authorities are fed up with all the antics of the world.
I have been visiting Thailand for over ten years and have never had any problems.
yes but what rules are you talking about the ones that change today and the ones that changed last week are the ones that changed yesterday it's hard to follow rules that continuously change every few days. Right now Thai authorities don't know what they're doing and don't know what to do. For a while I was starting to see more police presence but now it's gone back down and businesses are shutting down left or back down and businesses are shutting down left and right but that could also be because of the rainy season but I've noticed stuff starting to shut down more and more before the rainy season arrived
Basic things don't suddenly change overnight. As I said, I have traveled and lived in Thailand relatively often and a lot over the past ten years, and I have never had any problems. I find out about things from the authorities, and definitely not from these Facebook groups, and that is exactly why I have avoided problems. The worst advice is given here, where the best-in-class people from all over the world try to outshine each other. UGH I've spokenn
yeah I know that but you'll be surprised right now I think they're about to change another law it just seems like it's going to be better to come back later for someone in my position I have a family friend who I have came here to see she and her husband have been living here since the 1960s and she has brain cancer her husband's basically been dead for a while but they keep him hooked up he stiff as a bored. I'm guessing they're waiting for her to pass away so they could probably stay together in that regard but it's just too much right now probably will come back later maybe who the work visa or something that way I ain't got to worry as much as I am now kind of came here to try to experiment a little too just to see what it would be like even got to go on a few dates which was great

I popped over to Phuket from Singapore last weekend to play golf. A four day trip, I also got the third degree, proof of an exit flight, accommodation and questions about why I donāt have a more extensive visa. My explanation was Iām here to play a couple of rounds of golf, we got there in the end but I was a challenge, especially when I pointed out that I no longer live in Thailand full (previously had a Non OA Visa for three years) this change to just coming back as a tourist for tourist stuff completely threw them.

When they say whatever a visa next time does that mean a tourist visa? Or some other kind
, a visa that allows you to stay for whatever timings you require. In reality, visa exempt entry should not be used as a method to live in Thailand. In the past, it WAS used for this purpose. Thailand has started to crack down on this behaviour, especially if you show no real proof or activity of being a true tourist.

If you keep living in Thailand on visa exemptions, they will start asking you to get an appropriate visa. Full stop.
as for the person in the post it is wise to abide by the immigration laws I would expect that of anybody but I can also understand that a lot of people are white knighting for a country that can't keep laws and effect long enough for people to even know what they are. Like previously Americans could enter under the Visa free exemption 60 days Plus 30 more equals 90 days. Personally I think people just maybe need to visit Thailand when they open their borders backup rather than fly in Thailand directly. Because I've been living here since January and the laws continue to change.
, your statements are confusing and conflicting. Americans still currently can enter 60 day exempt. If you want to stay longer than 6 months, or keep leaving and coming back, Immigration would suggest you look to get an appropriate visa.
very don't need to considering the fact that I'm here taking care of a family friend because of her having brain cancer we really don't know how long she's got but also Thailand keeps making all of these changes to its laws the biggest mistake being recriminalizing cannabis another law that changed almost seemingly twice and one week or twice in a month. And lastly they are still changing other laws continuelessly a lot of my friends who are Thai that I have met here including some Australians are losing their business and that's why I say you don't know what really you can do or invest in this country if the laws continuously change constantly I'm more than happy to come back someday but Thailand needs to get their stuff together other than that this place is absolutely Paradise with or without the green. I'm all for following the laws but, they can't keep them at a vague state that you really don't know what's going to be legal today and then going to end you up in prison tomorrow in that case your chances are better in Beijing with a red white and blue g-string and a Cheeto man wig on with the original Google search bar tattooed on your chest yeah you'll get some laughs and a little bit of attention but it ends in a gulagš¤£š¤£š¤£ Hawaii is nice until there is a hurricane. You know what I mean?
personally I think Thailand needs to be put on a no-fly list and tariffed. You don't get to hold people Ransom in your country and force them to buy a plane ticket to go to a neighboring country especially if they're following the laws and are continuing to stay within their permitted stay time it's okay if they decide to let people over to Cambodia and Laos but they don't have to let them back in

Breaking the rules of the country will end you up in situations like these. Nothing wrong here.
Since you didnt learn it from where you come
Respect the laws of the place you visiting! Not every place is your Grand Paās backyardā¦
what rules or laws are you talking about here in Thailand because last time I checked they can't keep a government in power or keep laws in effect long enough without changing them every week? They keep doing this and taking people's money I think they need to be tariffed and put in a no-fly list. If you're going to White Night for this country at least make sure this country has got it s stuff together first
who am I the person that decides whether they want to go or not. If I want to go to Thailand and be held up by a government that technically doesn't exist and changes its law every week. Then through my actions and words I decide whether I want to go or not or others to go or not whether they abide by what I say or not. It's their choice. Just like how Thailand selecting its government is their choice. But they can't keep changing the laws constantly just because they want to try to empty everyone's wallets there are other friendlier countries and they know that Cambodia and Laos are taking their tourism away because they're being senseless. Stop white knighting bro.š¤£š¤£š¤£ Of course if anybody is going to break the law in the country they get what's coming to them. but it's vague when you can't essentially follow the laws that change and no longer become valid anymore constantly.

You may use our VIP FastTrack and Prescreen services to help streamline the process.
To access this, simply fill out the form below.
Once you've submitted your TDAC application, you'll see the option to select VIP FastTrack.
Ideally, bookings should be made in advance. Our system allows you to schedule your application beyond the standard 72-hour window for the TDAC at no extra charge.
Please note that you must not have already arrived in Thailand. While we can assist in such cases, the process tends to be more complicated and significantly more expensive.
We strongly recommend completing a pre-screen or securing a long-term visa in advance to avoid issues.
absolutely. It's not rocket science. Soon every country will have a version of this. Play the game, stick to the rules and there shouldn't be an issue.

We need to start getting our embassies or constants involved because they can't sit there on their website and tell people they're allowed to do two border runs per calendar year and six if they use a plane and then sit there and deny people entry even though they legally entered the country.
Regardless if it's your country or not Thailand needs to follow its own rules and be held accountable to its own rules.
If they don't want people abusing that then they need to change it and remove it off of their website immediately
yes I agree but the Thai government doesnāt make it all that easy getting a visa, Iām sure that if you could pay for different lengths of visas with different prices obviously, many people would prefer this. I know I would, and every visitor is spending money in Thailand
yeah retirement visa, but technically I was just astounding at using visa free for my tourist needs. I donāt, neither do I want to live in Thailand, I travel the whole of SEA just flights have you coming back through Thailand regularly.

Iām back in Oz now but in March I flew from Denpasar to DMK and didnāt even face an immigration officer just the facial recognition machine and was out in 3 minutes. I only had a one way fare in too so obviously got lucky
Iāve done the same trip, DPS to DMK in both March and May this year. Both times I saw an immigration officer, finger print, photo and stamp in passport.
well I arrived a week ago Suvarnabhumi and the line was very long and it didn't seem like anybody got questioned at all. Didn't matter the nationality. Now it's not a great sample size but this was also my 3rd entry within a year with some more stamps from previous years and nobody asked anything. (even tho I have months of time in between them). Soms of this post here I really doubt it's the full story and I still think if you just a regular tourist you have nothing to fear even if you have like 2 stamps or more.
got a hard time at the border. Also gave my Thai gf a hard time. Everything was legit but he kept accusing us of doing a border run on my first renewal
Iām returning for the second time in August. I have communicated many times by email with the Embassy- I have a paper trail. They advised me to get a 6 month multiple entry tourist visa. I plan to visit other countries and I think there in lies the problem. There has been political unrest at the Northern and most Southern borders ie Laos and Cambodia. I think theyāre just trying to protect people. If you canāt properly identify yourself with the appropriate visa then perhaps we shouldnāt be going there. Thatās my take.

It could be an increase of security given the recent incidents in Phuket and Krabi. There is already tightened security in place at Koh Samui because of these incidents. Maybe theyāre doing Bangkok also as a precaution.
oh i am pretty sure they know who they are looking for regarding recent bombs in Phuket. This visa exempt over use is an entirely different kettle of fish.

Be careful with too many exemption stamp entries. I spend about 50-70% of the year in Thailand. Last year after the switch to 60 days I used it three times. The third time coming from Laos at the immigration in Mukdahan the officer was looking at my passport and checking his computer very long and it seemed considering whether to let me in or not. He finally gave his stamp but now I make a 90 day single entry visa every time even when staying less than 60 days.
I'm still married to a Thai woman - so I can use the non-immigrant based on marriage. But now I'm also older than 50 and in three days (I hope) I will for the first time enter with a non-immigrant for retirement.
and apply for a new one, after selecting the Non-Immigrant type they ask to choose a purpose from a long list where I have usually selected "To stay with Thai family residing in Thailand". But from now on I think I will take the "Retirement" but it doesn't make a big difference since both are 90 days single entry (before there was a one year multiple entry but seems like they discontinued that one)
I'm thinking of going for about 10 days in August. Round-trips from Chicago are pretty reasonable and I haven't been there since April of 2024. Hopefully things go well. I'm not too worried
They just need to do away with visa exempt if this is the case. The idea that you are not just a tourist because you enter twice in a year is absurd. What about travelers that are not working, not living there but just want to move slower and also visit neighboring countries? They are going to not only hurt tourism but also Bangkokās status as the flight hub for the region. I think it might be best to enter SE Asia and exit via KL now otherwise expect to be harassed.
It's not about the number of entries, it's about the amount of time.

What's the amount of time that starts getting critical

/150 days? It seems no one can definetly answer that.

They should have figured out by now that most money comes from people visiting Thailand for the first time and returning for more holidays in the same year, or maybe to plan transitioning to a new visa, not from the rich person that only visits once and never returns again. There is only a limited ammount of extremelly rich people globally, so I find it funny that they are losing their minds over tourists who decide to return to the country.
my wife is Thai we like to visit Thailand š¹š for 3-5 months each year. We do not want to live in Thailand š¹š and still want to live in USA šŗšø. We stay at a hotel the whole time except when visiting family and friends. We eat out everyday and do all the tourist stuff and contribute to the economy.
I wish it was a less stressful situation about staying there for that period of time.
A few weeks ago they asked me of proof for return ticket. Good thing I had a burner ticket to Singapore booked already. First time Iāve been asked. Visa exempt entry from USA.
I havenāt been asked for a return ticket by the airline staff before leaving my home country before. But the immigration officer in Thailand asked me this time for it.
Last time I flew from states with delta used the machine and then that told me go to counter to check in (December 2024)

just saying if everything was more efficient you wouldn't need to do this ....in a way it it perpetuates things to remain the same and not make improvements
that's what it's all about. Corruption is everywhere in the land of smiles. I'm bored paying for the privilege to live there. Also u can get stuck in a rut. I'm going to travel more and use Vietnam as my base. Accommodation is cheap enough to keep it going even when u are away. Flights to neighboring countries are also very affordable.
The owner of this Facebook group offers "Safe entry" service where they will ask for every page of your passport, and then send it to their contacts at the airport. They will then get a price that guarantees you entry. Once you pay they will arrange everything. You will send them a photo of the outfit you are wearing to travel to Thailand on the day you leave, and then you will be met in the airport by an immigration officer who will open a counter for you in the fast track area, and stamp you in without any issues.
You can get a price quote by filling in this form and selecting the appropriate service on the 2nd page.
**************************
Prices range from 2000-8000 baht depending on your history in Thailand.
I just started using a visa agent and they said they have a process where theyāll actually make sure you get to at the airport. They said theyāll meet you and make sure you make it through of course for a price. It didnāt seem like that much money though only ąøæ8000
Do you have a very bad entry history for Thailand? 8000 is usually for people that have already been denied entry or have a very checkered history. If you don't have that, I would check with some other providers first.
I was just in Koh Samui for 89 days, flew to Singapore for 4 days and back to Samui, not a question was asked. Stamped in as normal for another visa exempt entry.
they knew you are going to spend some crazy money in Samui so you are safe to go spend.

not true, with the visa exempt it attracts more visitors and they spend more money on accommodations and food and travel. Sometimes the visa are confusing and difficult for some.
I understand getting people for that, but full interrogation with 1 past visa exempt entry? Would turn most people off from coming. They should remove visa exempt entries if they're going to make it this hard on people going a 2nd time.

Youāve only got one side of the story, having passed through Thai immigration dozens of times over the years canāt speak highly enough, 2 experiences with the storm troopers at the US border with Canada put me off that journey ever again. Anyway the new ETA will put a stop to all this , as rejection will take place on line , much as is does in US, AU and many other parts of the world, my wife (Singaporean) just had to do it for UK for the first time in 36 years - 5 minute effort and avoided the usual hour queue at LHRā¦ā¦
they shouldn't be doing that at all because the embassy website States you're allowed to border entries per calendar year by land and six by air. What they're doing goes against their own rules and regulations. They're harassment to foreigners is probably going to end up getting them on a no fly list and possibly tariffed. They need to change the rules to represent what they wish to represent or they need to stop doing what they're doing.
Thailand wants tourists not people that try to circumvent the system by keep coming to Thailand when they are clearly not tourists . Immigration must wonder why these people have no life in their own country ⦠why this obsession with keep coming to Thailand again and again ?
If you want to stay here get the right visa ⦠tourists come for a holiday then go home at the end of. Same with many countries
if that was the case they wouldn't allow people with tourists stamp exemptions and visas to rent out condos. Stop white knighting for a country that can't even decide it's on government
WHO allows tourists to rent condos ? Not immigration is it , they donāt get involved . Almost all condos are rented on a 1 year term so the people you are talking about are using Airbnb to rent on their ā touristā visas , which incidentally is regarded as illegal now in Thailand . But donāt let facts get in your way . I am not championing Thailand at all , Iām just saying look at it from immigrations point of view .So called ātouristsā doing back to back visa runs are not tourists they are attempting to stay long term without getting the right visa . Iām just saying , that is how immigration , rightly , will view it
because it's enabling Shady business tactics from people from other countries to come in and also break the law in this country which are far different and far worse than those who are doing border crossings even some of the landlords go in and out of the country without proper visas.
Iām sure you are right . Personally I donāt care who comes in or for how long , doesnāt bother me why would it . ? Immigration see it differently of course
and some rich people just want a life where they travel all the time without being made to feel like they are doing something wrong.

Harry Chapman 2 visa exempt entries a year is not tourism? Get a gripā¦. Most money spent in Thailand comes from people like him, meaning persons earning 50-100 k usd/euro/pounds a year visiting on visa exemptions. not from that imaginary unlimited supply of millionaires that Thai authorities tthink they will attract, but which always fail to appear.
why is it not tourism? In the early 2000s I used to come 4 times per year for about 10 straight years. I had my job. I came for sport tournaments in Asia but always came to Thailand before the tournament. I was a tourist for a week 4 times per year. Traveled all over Thailand. Who is to say I cannot be a tourist several times per year? I still have that 56 page passport filled with stamps from all over Asia with over 40 tourist stamps from Thailand.
and lots of them preferably who stay in a hotel for a couple of weeks eat out every night and not try to live here, can think of a few countries like that increasing by the day

Best look around mate I am sure there are other options when is a tourist not a tourist this is the question
best look around mate I'm sure there are other options when Thailand's government is no longer the government people thought it to be because it can't stop changing its laws every week. being a puppet for the Communist Chinese and every other country in the world does not helping Thailand any. The country is getting filled with crazy people and real estate scammers that know that people on tourist visas can't fill out an entire contract for a year. Thailand is just not the place to go to anymore bro. Besides being controlled by a military coup one big check from any foreign power and Thailand changes completely
stable govt failed to tick the box when I prepared my checklist on 7 retirement destination options, which included PH, VN and SG in SEA (SG made the list as I have been married to one for 33years) I have been visiting TH for nearly 50 years and been here during 2 coupsā¦ā¦for a young democracy itās normal, the Britās routinely beheaded monarchs they didnāt like , during a similar period of their development. There is a sense of community here, be it through culture, religion, or the monarchy that simply doesnāt exist in many parts of the world we considered. I ignore much of the media, and enjoy the people, lifestyle and culture and will do for as long it lasts, the last 10-15 years I plan to spend on this planet will be in Thailand and hopefully with my dear wife and dogsā¦ā¦.I will watch with interest as Thailand slowly comes of age, with the thai friends who make it all worthwhile.

But believe you me I love it here too I wish it were a little easier and they wouldn't have changed their laws as much as they have in the past year it's felt like I have seen law has changed twice in a single day. Things are a lot more closed off and empty here right now but that's because it's rainy season most likely. But I love Thailand and I hope to maybe return someday. But you can't have a proper government that allows tourists to rent property and then kick them out before they can live out their contract. If I could fix that to where only people with proper visas can rent out property the same way AIS the internet company requires you to have a proper Visa in order to get internet then Thailand would be even better and more straightforward.
Thailand is only a democracy on paper. Plus people here in Thailand love the royal family never insult the Royal Family. The British didn't do anything. Ignoring the media is how you end up on this form asking questions with everyone else laughing at you like you were to know that the laws were going to change as if you had a crystal ball bud
not Thailand because they stay on their Embassy website that we are allowed to border crossings per calendar year and 6 by air a lot of other people enter Thailand and don't have a proper visa for visiting other foreigners that have lived here. There is not and they do not have a Visa for every purpose that's why multiple entries are usually granted if they want to remove that then they need to do so not sit there and take people's money and put them in constant danger and threats other countries won't put up with that. No country once a nation that you pay thousands to get to and get treated with hostility. Besides they need to decide they can't decide what to do even with their own country
at the end of the day it's patently obvious that they don't want tourism any more. I've lived there for three years before going back to look after my sick dad. I won't be returning until they sort out this visa fiasco. Vietnam is so much more accessible
true. So why not make it an excuse for a holiday. There's so many options. Although I love Thailand, I'm done jumping through hoops to live there. I really do think they have shot themselves in the foot with all the flip flopping
Gary Reilly it's so sad and pathetic. I feel really bad. They say how they want tourists but at the end of the day they make it so difficult. It's saddening. I'm so sorry about your sick dad. Fast recovery and good health wishes š. Be strong ā¤ļø

I had a multiple entry TR as I'm staying 5-6 months usually and they questioned me anyway abd told me to get DTV... I paid for 6 months multiple entry abd they pulled me on the side on my 2nd exit on month 4... it's ridiculous
got it cheers. I have had multiple year stays in thailand previously on tourist visas. I'm no longer living in thailand but wanted to come in for a couple months.Do you know how much I am looking to pay an agency to help with the process?
depending on where you are from, if youāre entitled to the Visa free entry, you can stay 60 days. The by visiting and immigration office you can get a further 30 days.
So if youāre only staying a couple of months you shouldnāt have any issues getting in the country
i am from a country which is entitled to visa free, but it sounds like based on my history in Thailand flying in with this intention is a gamble at the moment

There is no such thing as back to back visa-free stays, follow the rules and it is simple. Thailand clearly do not want people visiting without correct visas, as per most countries throughout the world
I agree. They are bitching about the low tourism numbers then make u jump through hoops to enter, I lived there three years and now I plan to visit more of Asia (which was my idea on retirement). U can do 90 days in Vietnam and hop in and out as often as I like. Cambodia is even easier. Then u have Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines.
Iron boot? Clearly theyāve started looking after their borders in a way that Britain doesnāt! Seems the majority of international flights into DMK are from the usual cheap flight, border bounce countries, as well as China, South Korea and Japan.
Ahhhh another Thai apologist! Are you one of those helmets on Asean now forum? If not, Id join if I was you, its full of your ilk. Nothing to do all day, picking any argument to remain relevant
No, they havent started looking after their borders. What they are doing is bullying people who have LEGAL entry requirements because the govt is useless. Just another show of who's the boss even though no-one is entering illegally. Banging someone up in a room in an airport for an hour for nothing is exactly as I described it!
