Bloody hell. If your friend is worrying about that, I hope they don’t read the first page inside their passport! (“Her Britannic Majesty's Secretary of State requests and requires in the name of Her Majesty all those whom it may concern to allow the bearer to pass freely without let or hindrance and to afford the bearer such assistance and protection as may be necessary.”)

I stopped using Agoda years ago, because of the website design, which withheld the real total cost until the very end of the transaction. I use Hotels dot com and Booking dot com, which both have transparent cost (including tax) right up front.

Tickets (plural) suggests that you have separate tickets, the likely cause of the issue on your chosen airline (also, it’s not uncommon for LCC’s to operate point to point only). Tonight when you check in, ask the staff to through-check you and your bags all the way to BKK. If they will not, ask them about the airside Service Desk location in SGN, where you might be able to check in for your next flight and arrange for your bags to be grabbed from the Arrivals carousel and reunited with you (I have no experience doing this in SGN, however most international transit airports have such a process, to allow you to remain inside the airport, but it will still depend on whether your airline uses this facility). Failing that, yes, you will need to arrange for a visa on arrival in SGN, exit, grab your bags and check in again. Good luck.

Sorry, but I t may be too late for your Aunt to travel. Most airlines comply with the IATA Medical Manual, which describes various standards and procedures for carrying infirm passengers (including elderly and those who have suffered recent illness). The procedures include Doctor’s medical clearance requirements. I suggest that you and your Aunt consult a Doctor, who can do an assessment. Good luck.

There are no beaches in Bangkok. Your best (closest) option is Bang Saen Beach. Depending on time of day, it’s about 70 to 90 minutes driving time, and you can take an AOT “Limousine” from BKK Airport (I recall it’s 2,000-2:500 Baht one way, but it’s much easier to arrange your return trip at the same time). In Bang Saen, accommodation near the roundabout is most central to everything. Good luck.

Priceless! (and it’s something they have in common with airline pilots)
