The Elite Visa has its place. For a little over USD $300 per month, this visa provides unrestricted long-term residency. I can’t think of anywhere else in the world where this opportunity exists.

While there are many ways to attempt to quantify what $3,000 per month “feels like” in Thailand, the WorldData Purchasing Power Index indicates an answer to your question of a little over $9,000. Keep in mind that indices like this are based on national averages (not capital cities nor popular tourist areas). Good luck.

Depending on which passport you have - no or yes (if you need a visa). There’s not been any recent changes.

@Erik ******
The poster did not ask whether Erik would travel to Koh Kood. He asked whether travel to and around Thailand was affected, which I addressed (for the time being, travel to Koh Kood is unaffected). Have a blessed day.

Yes, lots.

No (as long as you’re not travelling travelling to the combat zones or attempting to cross the border into Cambodia).

The past two times my (Thai) partner applied for a Visitor (subclass 600) visa, we went to the trouble of getting family invitation letters, however they were not needed. I recall the Aussie website was quite clear, albeit tedious, once you select the visa type you need. Your Aussie Embassy can provide specific advice, however the application process focuses on the applicant demonstrating means and intention to return home (eg - bank account statements, credit card details, payslips, employment letter, air tickets). Good luck.

Before you finalise your plans, note that there is not a limit on how much cash you can take out of Australia. However, you must declare it if it’s more than AUD $10,000. Good luck.

Assuming you are a UK citizen, I recommend that you go to Wikipedia and search for “visa requirements for UK citizens”. This will take you to one of an array of different nationalities’ pages which neatly summarise your entry requirements. BTW, although you may be able to stay airside and re-check your bags at a transfer desk, you should assume worst case scenario and be prepared to arrive, clear CIQ, claim your bags and check in from scratch. Good luck.
