TLDR : Answer Summary
The consensus among comments in the thread indicates that travelers do not currently have to pay for entry into Thailand if they use the official online channels for their arrival card and if they qualify for a visa exemption. Some users pointed out that there have been discussions about a potential fee for entry, but it has been postponed indefinitely due to declining tourist numbers. There are warnings about scam websites that charge fees for services that should be free.

IMO

If you want to live here as if you’re a resident then YES, definitely pay for the correct visa.

If coming here as a tourist I think 60 visa free days every 3 months is fair…

No, you get free entry via the 60 day visa exempt stamp, if you hold a passport from one of the countries that qualifies.

If you’re referring to the tourist entry fee that was supposed to be applied soon, it’s been postponed indefinitely, as tourist numbers have been declining.

There are many scams.

As long as you have a clean history, and apply for your TDAC within 72 of your arrival date it is FREE for almost all nationalities.

Yes scam websites ask for money when you fill out the digital arrival card. Go to the official Thai website and it’s free. And I got 60 days yesterday.
