Can someone explain the following?

If you need a bank account to get a retirement visa, as you have to show 800k baht in your bank account, why do the banks say you need a retirement visa to get a bank account? I’m trying to open an account and get my own visa. Is this even possible or do you have to use an agent. Is there anyone from the UK who can explain the process please

Dtv question.

I am a realtor self-employed with an S corporation in America for 20+ years with proof of income. I have a team with agents to cover my business while traveling. I am not necessarily working in Thailand but trying to eventually retire there. What documentation will I need to provide to get approved for DTV Visa?

I must admit that the most disturbing thread I recently read on here, relates to the ban on a farang doing any form of work (other than English teaching with a work permit). I have no intention to work for income, or labour in my future wife's rice fields. It is however central to my physical and mental wellbeing to be able to do little bits of maintenance in and around our home, and some gardening. The gist of the comments concluded that I can only do that at the risk of deportation.

Is there a resource anyone can recommend to get more clarity? Something substantial...the Immigration office itself, or a solicitor?

And no... it is not my thing to sit on a couch and drink beer. Enjoy that for yourself, but that does not fit in with the way I wish to live my retired life with my wife.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi

Any Australians here who are “retired” in Thailand and have investment properties in Thailand as a source of income?

What tax implications are there for Australia? I know there is a DTA in place between the 2 countries.

Considering owning several to create a “Thai money” income as well as the one we will live in. And leaving other rentals in Australia as well.

Any other advice, experiences and information would be appreciated!!

A small question from someone (me) who might possibly retire in Thailand one day: For a small condo, how much will I pay for electricity per month (using a/c)? And how much for water?

Thx.

Edit: My question was rather vague, I know 😂.

But I was just looking for a price RANGE - and I thank all of you for giving me that!!!🙏🙏🙏

I’m trying to apply for the DTV ( destination Thailand Visa ) online

However there is very little communication (close to zero I guess they are busy With upcoming season) with the Thai embassy in Bucharest where I apply online and payed

They needed additional information regarding freelance work that I can not give them

Maybe I am the one making the mistake I thought freelance was the same as self-employed

I have been / still are Self-employed but use were little energy in to this now.

I close to early retirement.

It is only : purpose of visit

Where I want to switch from

A : freelancer status

to

B : Thai soft power Proof of confirmation to attend Thai cooking class

I have search for take cooking classes in Phuket

But I don’t know which one they mean that will count as being a participant in take cooking classes

Anyone knows if it’s just these half a day ( 4 hours) classes, is one enough or how many is required

How is the special schools I need to apply for Thai cooking classes ?

My wife and i plan on moving to thailand next year ( retirement ) first on a visa exempt ( we are from america ) then getting the non o visa once there, then extending it , my question is how do or can i open a bank account in thailand to deposit the 800000 for each of us on a visa exempt, or would it be easier to use a visa agent or agency. I already own a condo we bought 2 years ago.
