My mom ended up on dialysis in Bangkok hospital. The insurance we contacted first was touring club Switzerland which she is a member of and has a travel option. They communicated directly with the hospital. I just paid a security deposit while they waited for a guarantee of coverage. Once this arrived, they asked for my bank details and paid the deposit back. I had to translate between insurance and hospital a few times as the insurance didn’t understand thai-English. The follow up appointment in another hospital was paid by her normal health insurance. I have never seen the price but I doubt we could afford to pay without insurance 😱
A black American here calls himself chocolate man in Thailand and has a successful youtube channel. Thais seem to love white skin. Every body wash shower gel has the word white written all over them. They buy it lol
when i arriven in 2021 i disinfected the finger print reader in front of the officer before and after i touched it. He just smiled and said thanks, i just clean 555
e visa Switzerland. I had to visit family there anyway and the agent helped me cancel my old work visa. I changed to DTV for retirement. But not 50 yrs old yet so not retired on paper
. Mainly to make sure all the required documents are the right ones, they sent me the text to show my doctor to get the required paperwork for soft power 🙂 of course they charge you for the service but I have brain injury and need a lot of help. Non-handicapped might not need this. But getting proof of disability probably helped the embassy to see that I really need more than 1 dentist appointment 😱
Often you can’t buy travel insurance while you’re traveling. Have to do it before. Hope you never need to use it, but better safe than sorry. TNT reported of another person today who had no insurance. My mom had one of the worst cases, ending up on dialysis in Bangkok pattaya hospital. I had to pay a deposit for her but the insurance gave a guarantee of payment within 5 hours and everything went fine. She’s now back in Europe continuing her treatment
Private hospitals with western standards and fluent English speaking staff ( or at least translation service) are quite pricey and will be much more than your 450£. Don’t expect everyone driving in Thailand to have insurance to pay for your treatment when they crash into you. My mom ended up on dialysis in Bangkok hospital pattaya and we were over-insured. Which was great. I had to pay a 40k baht deposit for her but got everything back as soon as the hospital realized that she’s covered. Do yourself a favor and get the insurance. My mom had insurance from the swiss automobile club which is available for traveling. Treatment was great. They offered reparation flight but she was able to catch her normal flight back to europe. Of course for something small like diarrhea or whatever you can go to any clinic and pay the small cost out of pocket. I was dehydrated in 2018 and the government hospital i went to took care for 2000 baht ir so. Longer waiting times but still good enough for me
