Only certain sleeping pills, barbiturates and some other classes of medicine are highly regulated here, and usually those cannot even be acquired at a pharmacy but rather at a private hospital.

Just about anything else you can get at a pharmacy without a prescription.

I simply told them I no longer had interest in a marriage visa, since they were asking for me to jump over too many hoops, and wanted to simplify my life with a retirement visa. They told me that is what we would have suggested! Very simple process to change.

It is easy to change. Just let immigration know you prefer it, as it is easier. I changed, as I did not like the hassle of the marriage visa.

we went directly though the consulate. Spousal visa app only. We had previously failed with both a tourist visa and a student visa. Both were rejected.
