"IF YOU HAVE A QUESTION IT'S NOT STUPID AS THE QUESTION REQUIRES AN INTELLIGENT ANSWER or YOU WOULDN'T HAVE ASKED IT and if you don't ask it then WHO IS ACTUALLY THE STUPID PERSON for NOT ASKING? ..... plus how will you know the answer ? I've experienced much worse than you have in a couple of Thailand related groups that I've been in for the past couple of years. It seemed a 'big mistake' to put up a Post about my meeting a beautiful Thai lady on my holiday to Thailand. The number of responses to my post was way beyond what I expected. Roughly 50% were negative, or outright rude, though not quite so bad in this group. My advice is 'thicken your skin' a little and ignore the negative comments, but if they are really rude, block the people, so you don't see their comments and they don't see anything from you. I've blocked a small number of people and others I've just ignored their comments. Sometimes you'll also find that someone who does comment negatively occasionally, can sometimes also provide good information to group members. Being an Aussie, I've found a higher number of negative types in the "Australians in Thailand" group than this one.

I agree, that seems to be a spreading disease among people who use social media.

Apparently there are some who use it mostly to annoy, ridicule and offend other people, no matter how childish that is.

I started blocking everyone who makes those kind of remarks a while ago. And after a while it started to work, less and less childish remarks.

Just because you don't like the info people are providing despite your rudimentary status info doesn't mean they are bad. It only means you are badly prepared or delusional.

I will say that I read your original post and there were numerous people trying to help you and when they asked you questions, you didn't reply.

You never answered where you were traveling from or what visa you had. Important information. Had you done so the responses may had been different.

You’ve been in this group under a month. Have posted one question (other than this) and seem surprised that out of 55,000 people there may be some people who are sarcastic.

Your other question sort of negates the comment here that you know the basics. I’ll skip over the part where you don’t expect to be treated like an idiot. I don’t know you so can’t say one way or the other.

Most come here to find answers about stuff about Thailand. Many regular posters and viewers here get tonnes of information. They are well aware that they may need to scroll past some of the negative or sarcastic comments to glean the right info but that’s the pros and cons of a site like this.

From a moderator point of view or even the sites owners one person who is pissed off isn’t really going to be of any interest to anyone.

Why would we change our style to fit around you? What about the other 55,000 people that seem to be ok with our style? Every single person in this group has the choice of staying or leaving.

There are some very knowledgeable and helpful people in this group. I’m very grateful for the advice I have received from them. Quite literally life changing advice. Of course there are the negative and sarcastic individuals here. What they post is more about them than you. Best to ignore unpleasant people. My tactic is to raise the bar by asking, “If you’re going to be sarcastic, you best be funny”, when I ask questions on Facebook. The results have been really enjoyable! Anyway, focus on the good people and best of luck to you, Julie.

Such a shame as this and other Thai advice groups could be a mine of helpful information. The internet has provided a vehicle for the world's assholes to display just how childish adults can be.

As you've already found out few care what you think so either ignore, block or use google for your info.

You will always get someone with a smart sarcastic remark but thay goes for any group your on. Better to just scroll on by if you don't like the answer rather than getting upset by it.
