yeah but the pathway to getting retirement visa after existing visa runs out is not so straightforward I heard, more hoops to jump through. Ie if I’m just getting tourist visa in the meantime… I don’t think I can apply for retirement visa as easily.

hi thanks but I don’t think you read my message carefully? I’ve been living here for years. So not an adventure. I popped into Krungsri and inquired about bank account. They just asked for passport and international drivers licence. Nothing else. We will see if that’s enough if I apply to them. I’m shopping around. It’s not a casual affair. I’ve been with hubby using his bank up until now. But now I want my own without relying on his work permit etc.

and your point? So we are talking three years ago then. Still not that long ago whereas others are implying it’s not a new rule. Well it’s newer than 3 years as far as my experience goes 😂. I guess “new” is relative.
