Hey folks, I’ve been looking into medical insurance to cover me while in Thailand on a DTV. I was hoping to get something that would cover me for years with guaranteed renewals. But, I’ve been told that the local Thai insurers can’t cover me for long term health cover, because I’m officially a tourist, they can only offer travel insurance.

Seems the only option is the big international (expensive) providers.

Has anyone had any luck with long term medical cover?

Have question, Me and my wife are applying for retirement visa.

Main applicant will be my wife and me as her spouse.

Do we need to deposit 800K in a joint account

Or we both need to deposit separately totalling to 1600K ?

Same question for Medical insurance.

Is accommodation proof compulsory, as we might change if we don't like the accommodation types.

Experienced opinion and tips welcome

Hi DTV Group. My wife and I received our DTV visa 4 months ago. As we all know, the DTV Visa is not a typical tourist visa, as it allows us to stay in the country for up to 180 days before undergoing a visa run, and 90-day check-ins with immigration. My question is, for those of us who spend six months in Thailand before doing a Visa run, what kind of medical insurance is suitable for someone living in Thailand with a DTV Visa?

Anyone who's got the Luma travel medical insurance? I'm looking to get that for me and my family for 6 months, and would love to hear any first hand reviews.

My family and I are coming to Koh Samui for a 6-month stay. What's the recommended type of medical insurance? Is travel insurance or a local/domestic plan better for a long-term trip? We need coverage for sickness and emergencies. Appreciate the advice!

Good morning. I have just arrived on a Non O-A visa and have done my first visit to immigration for the TM30. As my current medical insurance expires 31 Dec I was only stamped in until then, insurance will be renewed sometime in November. Will I still have to fly out and back in order to get another year stamp? How easy is it to change to Non O visa which saves the insurance requirement?

Hello 👋

I have a couple of questions if you could answer please.

My husband and I will be looking to retire to Thailand early next year and have a few questions regarding a retirement visa, we currently reside in New Zealand.

1: With the requirement of THB 800,000 in a Thai bank account, is this amount for each person or is this amount for both of us?

Question 2: Do we have to purchase medical insurance for our Retirement Visa? Is this compulsory?

Question 3: With the changes in Thai banking, will it be difficult to open a Thai bank account for our Retirement visa, and when will this need to be done? (and how will it be done) because we will need to transfer the THB 800,000 into a Thai bank account as required for the visa.

Question 4: When we arrive we will be on a tourist visa (currently 30 day stay?) which we would need to extend for a further 60 days (total of 90 days) which will allow time needed to organise the bank account, visa etc.... is this the best option for us to do, or is there an easier or better way?

Thanks in advance

Michelle 🙏

Hi! I just got my DTV 5 year visa approved. What is a good travel insurance to buy before I go?

I am in my 20s, from the USA, and ideally just need the basics including medical. Thanks!

Hi there, this has probably been answered loads of times but I am getting a little confused.

I was under the impression (from answers to questions here and other places) that medical insurance is not required to apply for the Non-o visa from the UK, I’m looking at the London Thai Embassy website and it is saying that it is a requirement.

It’s not an issue if it is, if anyone has any recommendations for cheap insurance that will get us the visa, as we were planning on self insuring whilst there or looking around for best policy once we have settled.

Also, one last thing, what do I use as confirmation of residency in the uk?

Thank you all in advance
