Hi

I am applying for a pensioner visa from Sweden. I need to take out insurance that covers 100,000 US dollars. Suggestions for affordable insurance are welcome.

Best regards

Mikael
Answer summary
Mikael is seeking suggestions for affordable insurance that meets the requirements for a pensioner visa in Thailand, specifically for insurance coverage of $100,000. Community members offer various recommendations, including potential insurance providers and options for different visa types. It is noted that applying for a NON-O visa may be more beneficial as it does not require insurance. Various prices and coverage details are discussed, with considerations for age and health conditions impacting insurance rates.

You may see lots of people state.

“I got this or that for…”

However, everyone’s different. Age, pre-conditions, medication.

You may be tempted to jump all over a policy that’s affordable that offers the minimum cover.

Don’t. You should be looking at 5M THB cover and room @ 8000 daily.

Minimum. You can dispense with Optical, dental and out patients. I have a 20K deductable on my policy.

Just renewed mine.

@ 66 - The above cover. No pre conditions . Or long term medication 💊

No exclusions or waiting periods. Pacific Cross.

119,000Baht

Get the right Visa, travel on a 3 month travel policy.

Arrange your cover IN country with a good local broker. You will need one.

John Kenealy you paid 119k ? Per year ?

Guy LaFleur - The Luma Quote was higher. That’s the going rate for a 66 year old for decent cover.

Mine went up 50%. Any pre-conditions or medication that would be significantly higher with exclusions which also renders the policy worthless. The outpatients cover I could of got rid of. But it only knocked off 5K. The cost of a scan in a public hospital is 10-20K.

So you make a choice.

You have it or you don’t.

Because when I’m 70 it’s no longer viable. 2M in the bank time.!

Jag har använt Allianz samt AIA.

Kolla några andra grupper i Thailand och en herre som heter Clas Ebler. Han e den som kan allt om försäkringar i Thailand.

Vad jag vet så är det några stycken som är godkända för just den typen av visum.

You're applying for non OA? That has extra requirements like insurance from Thai approved company. The Non-O doesn't have this requirement.

if you make Entry into Thailand by September 2026, then Sweden Passports can still get a Swedish Embassy Pension Letter Certification before 1 October 2026 for either an in–country Non–O Visa ( Retirement Visa ) and/or the 1 Year Extension of Stay based on over 50 Years old ( Retirement Extension) at your local Thai Immigration Office inside Thailand

which both do not have any insurance requirements
