Non O Marriage Visa Extension re-entry financial requirements

Hi Everyone,

Am I correct on re entry into Thailand with a re entry permit with a Non O Marriage visa extension that you don’t need to show 20,000 baht cash etc ?

And that’s only for tourists on visa free entry and tourist visas?

Thanks in advance 🙏

Went from visa exemption stamp into Non-O 90 days thai child dependent visa in Thailand. Submitted the whole paperwork in 2 sets that is needed for the 1 year extension (hoping I could get one year straight away). Am I right to assume that for the 1 year extension I will have to resubmit everything even if it's the same immigration office? Couldn't ask the IO as he wasn't bothered. He also stamped me a 3 days earlier date. I didn't see it straight away, just thought it was a weird date for the visa expiry. But didn't want to test my luck by complaining. Also, if a new rental contract is needed does it have to start 3 months prior to extension date or on the date of extension for a year (like 30 days before expiration of Non O 90 days)? TIA

I’m coming in from Canada and I understand my passport gives me 60 days. I do not want to do a border crossing. When is the best time to apply for the 30 day extension?

I am planing to get a 90 day non o visa in Australia ,come to Thailand open a bank account, put 800000 baht in account and apply for 12 month extenion based on retirement. I have been coming to thailand regulary over last 2 years on tourist visas for 55 days at a time 2025 3 x .With crackdown on people staying over 150 days i thought its time to get a long term visa

My problem is I dont want to spend 90 days in Thailand to setup the non o visa as getting doctument together to open bank account together then transfering money

Waiting 2 months after money arrives to get extension if I hit some snag along the way will take almost the full 90 days

Any suggestion how i could achive a 12 month extension in less time

Ideally i would like to arrive get a lease on on an apartment open a bank account transfer money return to Australia for a month then return on a new 90 non O and

Extened for 12 months as my 800,000 would had been in bank for 2 months.

More questions... Through the USA (Chicago consulate) I finally began filling out the online application for a non O visa (50+) but was surprised to see that I need to enter information for a return flight. I recall reading in this group that a return flight is not required for a non O retirement visa. Since I do not plan to leave Thailand at the end of the 90 days I really don't have a departure date. Do I need to book two one way flights with the return flight having an option to cancel or modify the date? I also see I need to enter a flight number in order to proceed with the application so I assume I can enter only the arrival flight? I recently read that somebody had their application denied because they failed to enter their middle initial. I definitely do NOT want to make ANY mistakes.

Thanks to all who offer good advice.

Hi guys ,I'm looking to move to Thailand to live with my Thai wife in January 2028 when Ill be retired I live in the UK at the moment,my pension will cover the 40,000 Thai baht.im just a bit confused about the banking requirements,I popped in to a Thai bank last month and they gave me a list of visa types that I can use to open an account with them but as I'll be paid from the UK state pension into my UK bank in pounds how can I transfer this money in to a Thai bank if I first need need a marriage visa to be able to open a Thai bank ? I need proof of the 40,000 before I can get a visa . Can I transfer the 40,000 from my UK bank to my wise account to show as proof for the visa requirement . Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Hi all, I'm Thai but my partner is foreigner. He has stayed in Thailand since November 8, 2025 on free exemption. (Last day on passport shows Jan 8th, 2026). We're still preparing the documents for his spouse visa but we need more time.

So my question is..

If he wants to extend his free-visa..

1. Will the record on immigration system be reset after January 2026 (New calendar year) ?

2. If it does reset after we travel out of Thailand just for 1 day, Does that mean the officer might allow him to stay for another 60 days since the record is fresh now? or it will be counted as his 1st running visa?

Thank you in advance for your guidance.

I’m on a non imm O visa. If I left Thailand for 6 months with a re-entry permit would I still have to show proof of my monthly deposit while out of the country?

Hi 🙂 can anyone give me some advice?

I’ve been asked for 3 months bank statements (I initially supplied a closing balance only) and my payslips.

I had a large one off payment which contributed to me having the 500,000 baht within the last month. Am I likely to be declined because I haven’t had the required funds in my bank for 3 months? Can I explain this with a letter saying it’s a gift?

Thanks 🙂
