Hi!

Myself, my partner and our 2 year old will be travelling to Krabi in Feb 2024. We want to stay for 1 year and train Muay Thai but we will look at learning Thai at a certified school so we can get ED Visa.

We are from Australia and I’m just wanting advice should I book a return ticket or onward ticket to show the airline? Should we apply for ED visa before we go? Or should we just apply when we get to Thailand within the 30 days?

Any advice is greatly appreciated

Has anyone heard of or worked with "Insight English"? They are a language school in Hua Hin with an office in Bangkok who tell me they can secure an education visa without having to leave the country. It feels a bit too good to be true since other schools have told me I'd have to visit an embassy outside of Thailand

I do genuinely want to learn Thai to communicate better with my girlfriend's family. But I do admit that since I'm already in Thailand on amnesty, I worry if I leave I won't be able to return for a while so the benefits of a long-term visa are an attractive bonus at this time

For those of you who are learning Thai. "Mondly" is a good interactive app on a similar enjoyable level to Duolingo which unfortunately doesn't support Thai yet ✌️

Barring the basic "you-did-something-wrong" reasons, what's the general feel on the reliability of a 6 month or 1 year ED visa in the near future? Do people think it's getting more and more strict, or that it's likely to be denied/canceled at one of the 90day extensions without obvious "cause" (poor attendance, failing language spot test, etc.)?

In the next year, I'm looking at possibly doing the ED visa to learn Thai (I actually want to learn Thai), or to do some uni study. I'd just hate to invest the money if the visa has a high chance of becoming invalid for reasons out of my control.

Hi,

We are moving over this year and I want to learn Thai so that I can help my daughter learn it, speak to her friends parents and hopefully be accepted more by the locals. I can only find courses that are 20 hours. That’s not going to be enough for me to learn it well enough I don’t think. Also as far as the visa. How will I be able to stay for year (my daughter will be schooled so I need the year) if the course is only 20 hours? TIA
