My husband and I are considering moving to Thailand I will be there in the next couple months to scout out homes.

In the interim have a couple of questions for visas and medical insurance.

For a retirement Visa is Tricare for life acceptable.

Also just to clarify. Is it either or to put the money required for the Visa and a bank account or is 65,000 baht proving a Year's worth of deposits sufficient enough?

I am also a realtor with 40 years of experience and work through a referral company where all my transactions are online. Would this be something the DTV Visa would allow?

The other question I have is with a sponsor letter. How does this work and is it acceptable. This would be for funds if the 65,000 baht monthly income is not acceptable.

My remote location would be something new and as such I can show just a little bit of activity. Would this be frowned upon?

Hi all. I have been following posts of many of you moving to Thailand . Can I ask what it’s like to retire in Thailand ? What do you do to keep busy ? Also is it not a dangerous place for a single women ? It seems many of the comments suggest not , which has perked my interest in perhaps moving over, although I am a bit weary ?

I've read many posts from everyone and it's very helpful information thank you. One thing that I'm not clarified on is how many of you go or try to apply for the 5 year DTV? Lots of you get the Thai e-visa from Vietnam, or Jakarta, etc (congrats for those that got it!)

I am temporarily unemployed but I have money saved up and some gifts coming in from family. I'm a U.S citizen and I'm wondering if a longer-term Muay Thai visa would work, like if I paid for 3 months with a gym and made sure I have the 500k+ Bhat minimum for 3 months.

I'm sure this question has been asked multiple times so I apologize!

Hello!

After the DTV is approved, I want to transfer my income from my home country to a local bank in Thailand to use for my living expenses.

However, in this case, if I live in Thailand for more than 180 days, will I have to pay extra taxes to Thailand on the transferred amount?

I am from a country that has a DTA(double taxation agreement) with Thailand.

Thanks for accepting me into this group. I'm starting to look into applying for a retirement visa and want to go the route of paying an agency to do all the hard work. I have quotes from 2 agencies so far and would like to ask for recommendations of visa agencies that members here have used.

Hi everyone, thank you for your inputs.

I got my DTV (Workcation Visa) today!

Applied from Dubai (UAE) using the online portal on Jan 2nd.

Got my Visa on Jan 6th.

No questions or additional docs requested.

I own my company and I am self employed here. I can work remotely. So this is a great way to explore the country 🙂

If you guys got any questions lmk, happy to contribute :)

Hello!

I am on DTV & I will be in Bangkok on 31st December. As I am suffering from mold allergy / VOC allergies can anyone guide me to suggest some city / town near Bangkok (where I can be in nature, with some hiking trails & greenery around)? I can not stay near seashore due to the humidity & prevalent Mold issues. I tried staying in Pattaya for a few months but my health deteriorates due to the mold issues.

I already have a bank account in Pattaya (Bangkok Bank). Can I transfer my account to a new city / town where I will be staying (based on TM30 or something)? Or can I open a new bank account based on the existing one? In a month how many ATM withdrawals are free of charge (for foreigners) in ATMs in different provinces or cities any idea?

Thanks!

Hi All. Trying to get some visa advice for a friend over here now. He wants to retire here in Kanchanaburi. He cant find an agent here so has thought about BKK and Pattaya or Hua Hin.

Specifically, he is 68 and wants bank account. He has 800k to deposit.

He wants to have bank acc in Kanchanaburi, and has been told an agent can do that from BKK or Pattaya or Hua Hin bank acc after opening.

He wants to register living in Kanchanaburi, on his retirement visa, and has been told agent in other places mentioned can set that up, even if done in BKK or Pattaya or Hua Hin. Is that true?

Finally the quotes have been between 37k and 65k he has the money. Are the quotes vaue for money? He has a dodgy heart so wants to make it as easy as possible, hence an agent.

Thanks

Hello guys! Looking for advice.

Military veteran here receiving monthly compensation income permanently whether I’m working or not. I’m only 28 so I’m not at the retirement age. I do not have a remote job. Currently living and working in Japan.

Is there any way I can obtain a visa and use military compensation as my income?
