DTV workation - Upwork freelancer

Hi guys, I’ve a DTV Workation from Pakistan, 25 years. Been to thailand once, on DTV but stayed 20 days only.

I want to know how much budget would I need to settle in a studio apartment, I’m alone, no girls, bars stuff, I only work, eat good food, hit the gym, swim a little and go to beaches that’s all.

Any like minded people can comment down and we can catch up.
Answer summary
The budget for living in Thailand on a DTV Workation as a freelancer varies based on location and lifestyle choices. Many comments suggest that a comfortable monthly budget is around 50k to 80k baht, which covers rent (12k-20k for a studio), food, and other living expenses. Phuket is noted as an expensive option, while Chiang Mai and Bangkok are mentioned as more affordable alternatives. Some contributors also discussed the legality of work in Thailand for Pakistani freelancers and compared costs to Malaysia.

About 500k for 180 days. There is a reason why they are requesting the funds when you apply for the visa🤷‍♂️

I live on 20-30 k a month, with all rent, utilities, food, going out, drinking. Don't listen to some here, who say 50k+, they most likely stay in most expensive parts of Thailand have hokers and partying every day. I live in sakon nakon, before lived in one of the expensive islands koh pan ghan, still spent around 30 k, living good.

I’m also a digital nomad and I’ve spent quite a bit of time in Thailand. I’d suggest Bangkok if you enjoy city life, or Chiang Mai if you prefer somewhere quieter with a good digital-nomad community. Phuket is great if beaches are your priority, but it’s more touristy and generally more expensive. You can find a decent condo with a gym and pool for around 12–15k THB in Bangkok or Chiang Mai. I’d recommend Airbnb for the first month, then negotiate directly for a 6–12 month contract to get a better rate

80k baht a month is a good budget if you want to live

Relatively

Comfortable. Healthy food, nice coffee shops etc. Phuket is nice but the most expensive place to live in Thailand if you live close to your gym is still easy enough on 80k and living quite well.

In Phuket, You will get a decent studio within 15-20k baht, and add up another 20k baht on top of it for other living expenses. (telling from my own experince)

Malaysia is better for you since there are already a huge Pakistani community and they may help you to obtain residency and you can make money there while in Thailand you can not work legally. If I would be Pakistani then I would go to Malaysia instead or Vietnam because that is much cheaper than Thailand.

For just rent bills and food you could probably do it on $1000-1500/month.
