Banking strategy for visa

Has anyone been approved for a DTV in the last month, adding money to their account soon before their application submission? If yes, which embassy (in ASEAN)?

I have real work funds coming through this week to get me over the line and plan to go to Vietnam. I’ve seen mixed opinions on how long the money should be in the account for so this is still unclear.

DTV(workation) approved in the embassy in Warsaw, Poland.

Documents sent: 22nd January 10 p.m.

Request for additional documents 23rd January 4:15 p.m.

Additional documents sent 23rd January 4:30 p.m.

Accepted 23rd January 6 p.m.

The whole process took ~20h. I still cannot believe that I got approval in less than a day.

Hi group,

I got approved, thank you for the information here!!

I had been ROMing this group since last year, but was really nervous about applying until I was approved. 😅

I’d like to share my experience as an example.

📍 Embassy: Hanoi (Vietnam)

🗂️ Category: Workcation

⏱️ Timeline:

* Submitted: 18th June Wed (e-mail: 8:27 AM)

* Approved: 24th June Tue (e-mail: 1:25 PM)

There was no request for additional documents.

📁Document:

Cover letter and portfolio

I included:

* Upwork documents (certificate of earnings + profile screenshot)

* Screenshots of my blog and creations (including LINE stickers)

* A remote-work freelance service agreement from a Japanese client

My Upwork earnings were about 10k USD (last July ~ this June), I didn’t include documents for my other income sources.

Writing an English cover letter was a bit tough for me as a Japanese, we are not familiar with it 😅

I included the following in my cover letter; summary of my freelance work, my purpose for staying in Thailand, a list of portfolio items (starting on the next page)

Document Indicating Current Location

* Hotel reservation documents (from OTC)

* Passport stamp showing entry to Vietnam

Financial Evidence

* I used Wise screenshot and statements (in USD and JPY, mixed)

* 6 months of records

* I was gradually saving up money, reached 500kTHB 1 month before I applied

I hope this helps 😃

DTV - Swiss Embassy:

Anyone approved with funds split over 3 accounts (total ~฿510k), including a large recent deposit?

Hello, I'm sorry as I know this question is repetitive. But the only condition for DTV I could struggle with is the bank statement of 500,000 baht being held for a long period of time.

I was quite hoping to deposit it shortly before applying, but of course, many people say it has to be in there for 3-6 months.

But also many people say, it does not matter, some people even putting the 500k in right before applying.

I heard this is embassy specific. Can anyone give more details on what embassy I should go to?

Considering between HCMC (most convenient) or London (less convenient but I heard the most lenient on this)

Other embassies also open to going!

Thank you

What's the word on the street lately re: the best countries to apply for DTV from? Is Hanoi still the easiest option when it comes to the requirements for DTV? (Not asking for myself, it's for an article I'm writing)

Hi, I meet the age and financial requirements for Non-O and DTV. As I plan to do some remote work I think the DTV is better for me. I've not started the remote work yet so I will be applying for the DTV by going the soft power route and taking a cooking course as I love Thai food and cooking! I read a post somewhere that the Embassy required them to show a profile. I do not have this and wondered if anyone has recently successfully applied from London Embassy without needing to show prior proof of professional cooking skills? Also can you swap between the soft power options? Eg start with cooking, later have some medical appointments when returning to Thailand?

Hi everyone! 🙂

I'm currently in Thailand but planning to apply for the new DTV visa. I'm thinking of leaving the country for a few weeks to apply from somewhere else.

I have a couple of questions and would really appreciate your help:

1. Which country or embassy is the fastest and easiest for processing the DTV visa? I was considering Kuala Lumpur, but I’ve read mixed reviews. If you've done it there (or elsewhere), could you share your experience and how long it took?

2. Is it possible to complete the whole process online, or do I need to go to the embassy in person? Or does it vary by location or specific officer?

Thanks a lot in advance for any tips or info! 🙏🙂
