TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion centers around the best approach to apply for a DTV (Digital Nomad Visa) for Thailand, with opinions divided on whether it's more effective to apply from one's home country or a neighboring country. Many contributors suggest that applying from home often leads to a smoother experience due to clearer requirements, while others have successfully obtained their DTV from neighboring countries. The consensus suggests that application success is heavily dependent on individual circumstances, including proper documentation and the specific regulations of applicable embassies.

Dependa on your home country... and depends on your application really. Rejections usually happen because of strict embassy and the paperwork isnt good enough of requirements arent met
Jesper *******
Definitely better if you started planning.....doing it at home save u the trouble of hopping around asean countries to apply for DTV .....those who does that because they already traveled to thailand and its better to do it in neighboring countries instead of flying back home
Keith ********
It’s often smoother to do a DTV from your home country since the process and requirements tend to be clearer and more consistent. Neighboring countries like Thailand can have different rules or stricter checks, which sometimes leads to more rejections. Henry, if you had two visa exempt entries and you state 2 extensions that would be 180 days.

You state went to Vietnam to obtain a SETV eVisa.

That would typically only take 5 days.

Seems like short stay out of Thailand.

Miracle you had smooth entry at BKK.

Ignore the io advice about METV

While that's an option would be very surprised if you had hassle free entries in 2026.

Suggest you look into "safe entry service" Agents or look at other option such as DTV

Are you over 50?

I live in Spain and I did it in Brazil, it took only 3 hours for approval.

I took cooking classes

I got approved in my home country after a long time and much effort, which others mentioned in the Facebook groups, so I agree that it likely would have been easier in Indonesia or Vietnam.

What attitude? What did I say that got you so triggered? When you ask such questions you need to know the reasons why people get denied so you don't go like a blind sheep and assume whatever it is you gonna assume in small head of yours, hance why you must know the reasons. It's a public post, if you don't like my reply to your comment then ignore it, but I provided valuable information, you just very sensitive individual who assumed that was attacking everyone πŸ˜‚πŸ€‘πŸ«΅

You DONT get told the Reasons Why you get denied mate.. you application gets denied, the reason is for them to keep , this is why it's always best to get agency to do it , unless you know exactly what they want and you send them everything correct , again You came with that's bs ... You ain't answering me WHATS bs ?! Lol
Illya ********
Yes you do get told the reason, it maybe not always be the case, but most of the time you do get told reasons why your application is rejected. It's vague but they still tell you. And most of the time it's due to people fucking up paperwork or not sending correct information officers request, sometimes even due to suspicious amount of stamps. If you ask such questions you need know how why and where. Because you'll end up going to your home country, get rejected and then come on here cry about it
Illya ********
I never told you I'm from US old man, you just read it elsewhere. And my attitude isn't shitty, you're just retarded. I told you provide me reasons why it's better. You making a claim, then provide supporting arrangement
Steve *******
@Illya *******
You didn't tell me to provide you with anything. Obviously that crack pipe isn't doing you any favours!
Illya ********
I did forgot that I mentioned where I'm from. However, I did told you multiple times to provide proof for your claims. You stated that it's better to apply from your home country, and I asked you why and you still haven't answered my question. You keep beating around the bush.

Again it makes sense just doing it anywhere you are close to .... But my QUESTION still stands
Illya ********

my friend literally just did it in hanoi they asked him to prove how he can pay to live in Thailand once here on top of the bank requirements .took like 15 days he got approved but I think maybe so many people filing they're scrutinizing more.just an experience in sharing.
Illya ********
They asked me that as well. Nothing unusual. I provided bank statements and salary deposits. Arrived in HCMC on Dec 7th, left Dec 15th

Yanks Always So hyped ... Relax man nothing is bs here , people tend to get rejected more when applying from different Nation ... Thanks for your input anyway
Illya ********
And where exactly you getting this information from? Out of your azz?πŸ˜‚

"oh no I'm a Thai immigration officer and I'm gonna deny your application simply because you're applying from different country and not your home country" do you see how retarded that sounds. People get rejected for reasons they often don't want to disclose and not simply because they applying from a foreign country.

In fact many thai embassies abroad especially in Europe in US are much stricter, have longer wait time and some aren't even fully familiar with DTV because anyone hardly applies.

It's much better to apply from neighboring countires because traffic is always high, people come and go and it's very convenient to come to Thailand then book cheap flight to neighboring country and apply. Most people get rejected due to wrong info on application or missing documents NOT because they are applying from foreign country πŸ˜‚πŸ€‘

My Post clearly just Says I see more people being Rejected ONCE DONE not from the nation their passport is , AGAIN NO ONE SAID THAT WAS THE REJECTION REASON AS THEY DO NOT GIVE YOU A REASON OF why they Rejected Only they know that , MY QUESTION WAS is It better too do DTV from the nation you come from ,and here you are yank with Extra bs
Illya ********
You're clearly mentally challenged as it appears. I've seen your replies to other comments, you agreed with the answers that suits your nerrative like blind sheep. "I see many people getting rejected in neighboring countries" yeah no shit Sherlock, that's where majority of people apply from because it's far more convenient than applying from home. You think just because you apply in your home country you'll get approved? If your documents aren't squared away it doesn't matter where you apply from, you'll get denied. Ask stupid questions and get stupid response. Common sense

some people get rejected in Jakarta, never get told why, and later receive it in Hanoi by submiting the same documents. I doubt they will care if you submit them from your home country and the people that say yes, what are their opinions based on? Official statistics? πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

well this is my Point I think in the uk , Professionals ain't as Incompetent as ones in Indonesia or Laos or Cambodia lol hence my question maybe it's safer to do it at home especially when you ain't flew out yet , imagine going to Cambodia or Hanoi and you get rejected but you plan for a Thailand holiday , so yeah rather do it from home and that's not me saying it dont work doing it else where ...
