This is a report back on my previous query of "if the newest 60-day covid extension also apply for PE visa holders?" on Jan 18 under Somchai man's post.

Note that my PE visa (Easy Access) has expired and I am currently on my 6th (last) year, which also due to expire soon. Original plan (one of my options) was to get a Non-O and extend based on retirement, then came Covid.

Went to CW today to ask if I could cancel my PE visa (remaining days since stamp-in) and get the 60 day covid extension, and whether I can then apply for (convert to) Non O under covid extension. IO told me they have never cancelled a PE visa before, and that I will not be able to apply for (convert to) Non-O within the country under covid extension.

There has been small hiccup on the expiry of my PE visa and the one year stamp-in after the visa expiry, IO went around to ask other IO, and eventually all is good. I applied for extension of stay based on covid and get an "under consideration stamp" and asked to return on a date (happens to be the same date as my permit-to-stay-till stamp). Wonder what would happen if the application for extension is denied? Got to leave right away?

My university has now given me the documents that may enable me to transition from a PE visa (expired) to an ED visa in country. Is it possible to book an appointment at CW for the ED visa section? I know that appointments are possible for some visa types, but I’m unsure whether ED visa is included.

I have an entry stamp that is valid until the beginning of January (issued from a PE visa that is now expired). I’m a student at a university in Bangkok, so I’m looking to change to an ED visa in country. My university is unsure whether this change is possible in country. Normally the in country visa changes that they assist with are tourist visa to ED visa. I tried calling Chaeng Wattana this afternoon to get more information, but no one was answering the phones. Does anyone know if a change from PE to ED in country is possible?

Is Cheangwattana still open for in person 90 day reports?

My first (ever) report is due on the 10th (PE visa).

I understand I am ok to not do it with the current covid visa arrangements, but I’d like to get my name in the system for future online reporting.

Thoughts appreciated, TIA

Bim Smith posted they had a PE visa, bounced out and back just before the visa itself expired (to get the final year of stay even though they get no service from Elite).

They want to know their options for a long stay other than going back to their country to get an O-A visa.

PE VISA ... 6th year

5 Year PE visa expires October 2019 with a permitted to stay stamp in same month. I understand I can leave and re-enter the country before the permitted to stay stamp and be stamped in again for another year. My question is, if during that additional 6th year, I wish to leave and re-enter Thailand, do I need a re-entry permit?
