Really ?โน๏ธ--:so therefore I will need to leave the country ,come back again (say under the 30 day visa exempt ( I'm Irish ) and then apply for the non O here ???
(Or apply for a non oa which can only be done from your home country )
yes. You need to leave and obtain a tourist visa as it's doubtful a visa exempt entry will give you enough time to obtain the non O and then the extension

Have you asked Thailand Elite or your local Thai Immigration Office?
When does your Thailand Elite expire?
What is your age?
This question looks familiar...have you posted it on other forums? If so...what were the replies?
The Thailand Elite Visa is a long-term visa given to the Thailand Privilege Card members. It is categorized under Tourist Visa (Privilege Entry Visa โPEโ) allowing residency in Thailand along with benefits for a period between 5, 10, or 20 years depending on the chosen package in exchange for a membership fee.
i know this thanks ,I actually have the 5 year Thai Elite ,which expires next month ,and as I'm over 50 now I think the non O is sufficient for my needs
says you cannot go to a Non O inside Thailand from the Thai Elite visa...suggest you try to obtain a COVID Extension...giving you a possible ...up to 60 days to break the chain and then apply for the Non O during the final 30 days of the COVID extension.
But I could use a Covid extension to gain more time ??? ( as in hopefully the entry requirements / Thailand Pass etc are less onerous come April than February , if I have to exit and reenter again to apply for the non O )
you could indeed use the covid extension to "buy time" to see if the entry requirements to thailand lighten up IF the immigration office you apply at will sell you a covid extension and as long as you did it before the 25th of Jan when the covid extension program runs out
thanks for the reply ,should I use a local agent here to apply for this on my behalf ?? ( I presume explanations about why you require a Covid extension is necessary ? )
you can go get the 60 day covid extension on your own as long as you do it before the 25th of Jan (the day the program runs out) AND as long as you have 30 days or less left on your current elite stamp.
All it's going to do is buy time so you can leave the country though, because even off a covid extension, as long as it tracks back to the elite entry you can't get an in country visa issued from it.
ok understood ,thanks for the reply - So transferring 800k into a Thai account is not relevant at this stage ?? ,I just need to have it available when I apply for a non O ๐ค
you can't apply for the Non-O until you bounce out and back and get OFF the elite entry stamp and all the extensions from it and come back on a new stamp.
AND
To apply for the Non-O visa inside the country there is no seasoning of the 400K baht funds, it just has to be in the account the date you apply, so until you can get out and back and THEN begin the process there is no gun to your head to get the funds in now.
I had thought the Thai Elite visa is a glorified Tourist Visa. Therefore could obtain a Non O for retirement in country. But I am not expert re the PE visa
