I have a 15 year PE visa renewal coming up, I may take an internal job here in Thailand. How does that affect the PE Visa?

Does it cancel it out entirely or when my work permit ends will I be able to return to PE visa mode?

If you take an internal job in Thailand, your 15-year PE (Elite) visa will not be cancelled. You can transition to a Non-B visa based on employment while still keeping your Elite visa active. Once your employment ends, you can cancel the Non-B visa, exit the country, and re-enter with your Elite visa without any issues.

Actually nothing happens to your Elite Visa.

You would leave the country and get the non-b visa based on employment, and you are no longer in Thailand on the Elite visa but the time that it is valid for still keeps running down.

It is one of the few visas that you're allowed to continue to have while you also have another valid visa based on employment.

Once your job ends you cancel the non b visa/extension exit the country re-enter showing your Elite visa and get stamped back in on it no problem.
