Can I change my entry stamp from a PE visa to an ED visa while in Thailand?

I have an entry stamp that is valid until the beginning of January (issued from a PE visa that is now expired). I’m a student at a university in Bangkok, so I’m looking to change to an ED visa in country. My university is unsure whether this change is possible in country. Normally the in country visa changes that they assist with are tourist visa to ED visa. I tried calling Chaeng Wattana this afternoon to get more information, but no one was answering the phones. Does anyone know if a change from PE to ED in country is possible?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks to know if they can change their entry stamp from an expired PE visa to an ED visa while in Thailand. They are currently a student at a Bangkok university, which is uncertain about the possibility of this in-country visa change. Commenters suggest it might not be allowed and advise confirming with immigration directly.

AFAIK it is NOT possible to go from a year Elite entry stamp to an in country Non-ED visa. The Elite people (even though you're on an expired elite visa you still have a valid entry stamp) and your university would be the place to be talking to, as it's their paperwork that would support the ED visa.

IF I was a betting man I'd be no, you can't do it, BUT I think it's gonna take you and or a representative from your school to go out to Immigrations and find out in person.

Even if you can switch, I'd personally use the elite entry stamp right up until it runs out before I'd switch over. BUT that's just me. ;)

. Is it not permissible to study on Elite visa?

totally okay to study on an Elite visa I know several people on one that are in uni and private schools here.

That's why I told them to get as much out of their year elite entry stamp as they can before they switch over (if they can switch)
