Still working in the UK, aged 63, want to spend 2x90 days in Thailand per year, not married.

What’s the best visa?

Would also appreciate any recommendations on health insurance ( not travel ) for while I am there that would pay the hospital direct, no underlining medical conditions.

Thanks for your time fella’s

Hey everyone 👋 I need a bit of advice.

So far this year I’ve entered Thailand twice:

• First time in May for 7 days

• Second time in August for 10 days

Now I’m planning my third trip in October (6th–16th, 10 days).

With my nationality I get a 60-day visa exemption, but in reality I’ve only stayed 7 days the first time and 10 days the second time – way shorter than the 60 days allowed. For this upcoming trip I’ll also have everything ready: confirmed return flights, hotel bookings for the whole stay, and more than enough cash to show if needed.

Since this will be my 3rd entry in the same year, do you think immigration will give me any issues? All my trips are just short holidays.

Has anyone had a similar experience? Just want to be prepared and avoid any problems at the airport 😅

I'll apply for some kind of retirement visa for October 2024 so I need to know how many MONTHS of statements I have to show the required monthly income/combined with pension in my US bank account because I'm starting a new online business venture and it will take a while to build up.

And I have read so many sites, including government ones, that are vague or contradict each other about whether it's JUST the monthly income that would suffice or if depositing $20,000ish USD is required ALSO?

So essentially is it AND or OR?

I'm really not interested in putting that much in a Thai bank when I have my business in the US and pay all my bills through my US Bank and I've heard many times it's a real hassle to even open an account before you have the visa, so it's a catch 22.

Apparently there are new tax laws too which I'm also confused reading. I have a small social security and some $ from my online counseling business which already gets taxed by California State and Federal so I definitely don't want to pay another country too when I'm already financially challenged for many reasons (no insults or preaching about that please).

Many countries change rules quickly, so I'm checking for 2024. And the majority of countries are making it increasingly harder to retire there. I've lived in Mexico and other countries and Mexico's income requirements are insanely high now!!

Any site links that are extremely clear and reliable would be helpful too, so I can stay updated. Thanks much.

Just for info. We arrived in Thailand on a 60 day tourist visa (UK). This is due to run out early January. We thought about a border hop, but as we'll be on the islands not so easy or cheap.

Anyway, went to krabi immigration today and they extended 30 days from the January expiry date. Cost 1900tbh each, need a copy of passport and photo but that can be done there, I'm not sure if it was 20tbh for copy or 100tbh for both ( we had ours already)

Easy system, today was a busy day after weekend and holiday sl took us 3 hours but usually 30 minutes wait. Be aware its cash only too.

Hope it helps.

Does anyone know if they will ever again offer multiple entry marriage visas or multiple entry tourist visas through the evisa platform in the foreseeable future? I’m from Canada and I am asking for myself and some friends who used to come to Thailand each winter for 6 months.

Thanks

Hello,

Do people who get covid extension on tourist visa need to do notification of stay every 90 days ? Or if I come to the immigration to extend my stay due to covid it is equivalent?

Thanks a lot !

Hi, I posted a few days ago but need advice on my stay. I'm in Korat currently. I arrived in Thai on Dec 6 from the USA on a 30 day visa free. On Dec 28 I went and they gave me a 60 day extention giving me now until March 5. No one ever said and I never really asked immigration whether I got 60 days because of covid or ? My question is pertaining to whether I could get another extention or is it not even worth pursuing? I'd like to get another 30 days if it's available to me and really not into border hops but not sure if they would do. Any thoughts?

My long term plans are to go after a retirement visa and apply before I leave but my bank deposit won't season in time(60 days) and my pension is not going to thai bank either. I make enough on pension but they told me it needs to go into thai bank for 12 months to qualify. Figured I'd deposit the 800k and apply before I leave then come back when visa approved after the 60 days sometime. Thoughts again? Thanks all!!
