My DTV application was unexpectedly rejected today (6 Nov at 11:54 a.m.) with HCM, Vietnam

Timeline:

• 27 Oct: Submitted application (7:10 p.m.)

• 28 Oct: Further info requested → submitted same day

• 4 Nov: Emailed consulate (visa expiring 9 Nov); later that day status changed from Document Check → Pending Approval

• 6 Nov, 7am: Emailed again early morning (tomorrow is the last working day before my visa expiry)

• 6 Nov, 11:54 a.m.: Received rejection

I’m an immigration advisor of NZ, working for a Chinese company, and I included:

• 6 months of payslips, bank statements, tax records, employment letter, the company registration and my license certificate.

• A NZ term deposit of over 1 million THB

• Stayed at Da Nang: boarding pass, hotel bills, visa and visa stamp.

Everything seemed straightforward, so I’m shocked by the refusal.

I can think of three possible reasons for the refusal, but I’d be interested to hear other views:

1. HCM may regard me as able to work locally since I can provide consultations to both Thai nationals and foreigners in Thailand, while the DTV prohibits me from working in Thailand. However, all clients of the company are from mainland China, which is not specifically mentioned in the application. Should I clarify that I am aware of Thai law and will not conduct any local work?

2. I hold both Chinese and New Zealand citizenships, but I applied under my Chinese passport (as only my Chinese health insurance covers me due to my medical conditions). This is not something I can change.

3. I used a New Zealand term deposit instead of a savings account, which might be seen as funds not immediately accessible. Should I instead provide proof of a regular savings account?

Has anyone experienced something similar or know what might have triggered this?

I applied for a DTV Visa in Ho Chi Minh and it just got rejected. I had all the necessary documents from my Muay Thai school and showed them over 40k€ over 3 months of bank statements. The only reason I can think of why I got rejected is because I'm currently unemployed and they might be worried that 40k isn't enough for 5 years. But then again the requirment for the visa is 500k which is much less than what I have.

Now my question is can I try to apply straight away at another embassy? If so, which one is considered easier than Ho Chi Minh? I read on here that Ho Chi Minh is quite strict. Would it be a good idea to apply in Hanoi? That would be the most convenient for me as I'm already in Vietnam.

I applied for DTV in Malaysia(kuala Lumpur) provided all document they needed but still got rejected is it maybe because I had previous visa runs or anything else I showed a proof with the requested amount my working contract from Cyprus that clarify that I can work from anywhere but instead of providing proof of prolonged residence I put the address of my Thai girl friend with a paper that include her name and ID number and also others documents is there a way to find out why it was rejected ?

Hey everyone! I have been in HCMC for about a month working on my DTV. I had all of the qualifications, they asked for more information and I provided those and it took a couple weeks to hear back. I just heard that I was rejected. Does anyone know if there’s an appeal process or have any suggestions? Also, would this affect applying for a student visa as an alternative?

1 September i applied, then 10 September got request for additional documents(visa in Indonesia, and proof of stay in Indonesia), then I got a pending approval status today(11 Sept), but just two hours later, it changed to “Rejected.” What could be the issue? I had 500k in my account for three months, and I also have a remote job with a contract, so my finances are stable. They didn’t specify the reason for the rejection, no explanation was provided. This was at the Jakarta embassy.

Hello

Unfortunately my application has been rejected in Hanoi

DTV Soft power thai cooking 6month course with House of Taste Bangkok

French passport

Applied 13/08

Pending approval 14/08

Rejected 20/08

No other documents requested simply rejected.

Provided :

4month current account bank statement with more than 500k baht and saving account with more than 4 millions baht

Proof of location in Hanoi (booking, stamp, google maps shot, payment receipt)

School document (DBD, Proof of payment, class example and stuff)

Since they don't provide any explanation on why they reject your application I wonder what's my next best move.

Either I try to apply from HCMC/Jarkata embassy or I maybe change course to Muay Thai, go with an agent ?

If having a TR visa application rejected as a Swedish citizen (let's say on some technicality due to filling in the evisa forms wrong) is it still possible to enter Thailand visa exempt instead?

Hello everyone,

Does anyone know a good lawyer who can help me navigate my DTV Visa application or can anyone recommend the best way possible to go about getting my Visa application approved?

I’m a Belgian citizen, and I recently applied for the DTV Visa online, but unfortunately, my application was rejected without an explanation. I provided all the requested documents, yet they still denied my application.

I run a digital marketing agency registered in the U.S., which I operate alone and remotely. I provided proof that both my personal and business bank accounts hold funds exceeding the required 500,000 Thai baht. However, I have no employees and currently don’t pay myself a salary, as I rely on other income sources for my monthly expenses. I suspect this may have contributed to the rejection, or it could be due to the requirement for company registration documents verified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which I did not have.

If anyone can help me understand what went wrong and how to proceed, I would greatly appreciate it. I’m currently in France and plan to travel back to Thailand around March 15th.

Thank you!

Hey everyone, I wanted to share my experience and see if anyone can provide an advice or smth..

Unfortunately, I received a rejection email for my DTV visa yesterday from the Thai Embassy in Cairo, Egypt. The reason stated was that I don’t meet the financial requirement of 850K EGP (~500K THB).

However, I had attached:

• A transaction history from my Remotepass account (I work remotely as a consultant through Remotepass).

• My actual work contract (active since August last year)

• An additional bank statement.

Both statements combined exceed 500K THB and are in USD, yet my application was still rejected.

I applied on February 17th and got a response just one day later. I’ve tried reaching out for clarification and to see if anything can be done, no response back.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Any idea why this might have happened or what I can do next?

Would really appreciate it!

I need some advice. I was helping my parents with their visa for Thailand and it got rejected for “incorrect travel document.” They are U.S permanent residents (green card holders) and they have a travel document “Reentry Permit” issued from US homeland Security. They were able to obtain a Lao visa but not a Thai visa? I called the Thailand embassy in Washington and they told me that they do not accept reentry permits. So what is the correct document/ travel document I need? Thanks in advance!
