Title: Rejected for DTV (Thai Muay Thai) – Hanoi Embassy – Need Advice**
Hi everyone,
I was just rejected for the Thai DTV (Destination Thailand Visa) and I'm hoping to get some insights from those with more experience. I applied at the Thai Embassy in Hanoi, Vietnam, and received the rejection email this afternoon.
Here’s my timeline and the documents I submitted:
Application submitted:August 17
Status: "Pending Approval" on the Thai Visa website until today (August 28), when I received the rejection email.
What I submitted:
1. Proof of residency in Vietnam:
- Flight ticket into Hanoi
- Vietnamese visa and entry stamp
- 7-day hotel booking confirmation
2. Financial proof:
- 6-month bank statement showing a balance of over 500,000 THB
- Remote work contract/employment proof
- A cover letter explaining:
- My remote work nature
- Why I chose Muay Thai
- My travel history (I attached copies of my valid 10-year multiple-entry visas for the US, Australia, and South Korea – to show I'm a genuine traveler with good travel records)
3. Muay Thai gym documents:
- Full course enrollment package from The Muay Thai Gym Chiang Mai (all documents they provided)
My questions for you:
1. I honestly believed my application was quite strong – good finances, solid travel history, and all required documents. Why do you think I was rejected?
2. Could the rejection be related to the new rule (effective August 31) that you can no longer apply for DTV while on a tourist visa/visa-exempt status?
3. Should I try applying again from my home country (where I'm a legal resident)?
4. Will this rejection go on my record and affect future Thai visa applications? Should I be worried about reapplying?
I would really appreciate any advice or similar experiences. Thanks in advance!
