Can I reapply for a DTV Visa at another embassy after rejection in Ho Chi Minh City?

I applied for a DTV Visa in Ho Chi Minh and it just got rejected. I had all the necessary documents from my Muay Thai school and showed them over 40k€ over 3 months of bank statements. The only reason I can think of why I got rejected is because I'm currently unemployed and they might be worried that 40k isn't enough for 5 years. But then again the requirment for the visa is 500k which is much less than what I have.

Now my question is can I try to apply straight away at another embassy? If so, which one is considered easier than Ho Chi Minh? I read on here that Ho Chi Minh is quite strict. Would it be a good idea to apply in Hanoi? That would be the most convenient for me as I'm already in Vietnam.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user faced rejection for a DTV Visa application in Ho Chi Minh City despite providing sufficient financial documentation. They suspect unemployment may have contributed to the decision. The inquiry is whether they can apply at another embassy, suggesting Hanoi as a convenient option due to strictness in Ho Chi Minh. Comments provide various opinions on applying elsewhere, including recommendations for embassies in Jakarta, Laos, and mentions of lax conditions in other locations like Taiwan or Singapore.

Go back to your own country and save enough money 💰

And come back . My opinion

Thailand has changed a lot

Not like used to be any more

Everything get so pricey

Medical bill is high

Infrastructure is not improving

So much motorbike accident

Drinking water is no safe

So I'm going back to my own country soon.

I have good experiences with the embassy in KL. Bit that was for a non-b. Twice

I would apply in Taiwan or Singapore I can’t remember which embassy there is way more lax when it comes to getting approved. Also I’ll be applying for the DTV soon but I’m wondering if all of the embassy’s require 3 months of 500k baht proof or if it’s like 1 month.
Michael **********
@Jay ****
not taiwan for sure, it's one of the strictest embassies especially when it comes to soft powers
Andi ***********
@Jay ****
Singapore is for residents/citizens only and close to Malaysia with its strict approval. Taiwan is less strict but requires the same documentation as workcation for Sotfpower applicants regarding evidence of income, Taiwan requires just a final balance of 500k along with 3-6 months of bank statements.

Head over to Vientiane in Laos.

Normally if they are worried about how you will support yourself over the duration of the visa they will ask you for an explanation. Perhaps there was something else about your application. Did your application get rejected or cancelled? The latter implies there was something wrong with your biodata
Lynnette *******
@John *********
don't they usually give a reason? Like insufficient proof of being in the country?
John **********
@Lynnette ******
consulates don't usually give any reason
Lynnette *******
@John *********
ok. They ask for more info if it's missing, don't they? So there must have been something on his application that meant he didn't meet the requirements.

Unemployed applicants have been approved for the DTV. How long was the Muay Thai course? You can apply right away at another embassy, Jakarta, Laos are good options. Triple check your application before applying again. Did you include a cover letter detailing your long term need for the DTV via Muay Thai?

Yes, I did. I read about another case very similar to mine also getting rejected in Ho Chi Minh and they believed it was because of them being unemployed. I also believe this, because they asked for additional documents twice in regards to proof of income. I included the bank statement of 3 months showing a balance over 40.000€ right away and then asked me for proof of income. I then told them I was currently unemployed. After that they asked how I intend to sustain myself while being unemployed and I told them that I intend to provide for myself with the 40.000€ I have showed them, which are much more than the required 500k THB.

That's why asked for recommendations for other embassies. Thanks for you recommendations. I might try it in Laos then!

Tobias Schmiedeberg Vietnam is more strict now approving SP applicants. Jakarta, Laos, Cambodia are friendlier. Did you provide a budget e.g 40k Euros will cover e.g

months living expenses at xxx THB a month?
Lynnette *******
So are you still in The country? Did you upload proof on your application that you were in the country?
Faraz ********
Why you want to live in Vietnam. When you can easily live in Malaysia on long term basis. Without showing any money or fix depositing it in the bank.
Faraz ********
Do that. I have sent you the details and the government website link for business visa. In your dm. Check them as well.
Gareth ********
@Faraz *******
How can you stay long term in Malaysia without showing money? MM2H has high requirements now.

When I left Malaysia a couple of months ago I was questioned when leaving. I was only there 4 months. Did 1 border bounce.
Andi ***********
@Gareth *******
Yeah the MM2H no longer a competitive option to other SEA visas
Faraz ********
@Andi **********
totally agreed. But Malaysia is still the best option for long term stay with family.
Andi ***********
@Faraz *******
How long does the business visa last?
Faraz ********
@Andi **********
2 years. After 2 years it's renewable.
Andi ***********
Faraz ********
@Gareth *******
I am not talking about mm2h. I am talking about business visa. No need to buy property. No need for fix deposit. Your family can also stay for long term on dependent visa.
Gareth ********
@Faraz *******
ah ok. Haven’t heard of business visa for MY. I’ll s e a hat the requirements and cost are. Thanks
Andi ***********
@Faraz *******
He is applying in Vietnam to live in Thailand via the DTV.
Faraz ********
@Andi **********
ok. My mistake. Thanks for correction.
Dennis *********
If the requirements for the visa state you must show 500k baht equivalent and you showed 40k baht equivalent I don’t see you getting a DTV Visa because you don’t meet the requirements.

You can continue to apply and waste your money but I’d be surprised if you receive a visa
Larry *********
@Dennis ********
if your unemployed you have no income. your total documented money for 5 years expenses is 40k. thats what you showed them. thats it. thats only $8k per year to live on. Thailand does not want poor foreigners. your budget per month on $8 k per year is $666. good luck.

yes i see. sorry about that.

Like mentioned in my post, I showed 40k€ (€=Euro) which is about 3 times the required amount.
Dennis *********
@Tobias *************
sorry didn’t think euros because the euro sign wasn’t on the second 40k - my fault! Perhaps message and ask for clarification? Good luck
Andy *****
@Tobias *************
Tobias, if some people reply to your post without fully reading it then they are probably not the people that are going to give you accurate advice.
Dennis *********
@Andy ****
of course Andy you never misread anything and are perfect! Of course he said 40k euros the first time and not the second so there is that. I guess I could have assumed the first one was correct but then you know what happens when you assume something! Perhaps in your infinite wisdom you can advise him.
Andy *****
@Dennis ********
exactly, you assumed. As I pointed out maybe not best to give advice if assuming.

Which is the reason I am not giving any advice so you are pretty much summing up my point in your perfect reply.
Dennis *********
@Andy ****
actually I didn’t assume you are making an ass out of yourself!!

@Dennis ********
I’m not the one commenting on a post I didn’t read correctly and then digging a hole. My initial comment wasn’t directed at you, it was a comment in general but you seem to be butt hurt by it. Maybe get over yourself.
Lynnette *******
@Andy ****
2 posts, one said euros and the other didn't, so it wasn't clear at all till he made another post said euros.
Lynnette *******
@Tobias *************
you said 40k and didn't say it was euros. Then said 500tbt.

@Lynnette ******
Please read my post again. I mentioned 40k€ the first time and then left out the € because I thought it wasn't necessary to include the € a second time when I did so previously, as it should be clear.
Lynnette *******
@Tobias *************
yes, I saw your first post said 40k and didn't say euros. Never assume people know what currency you mean.
John ********
@Lynnette ******
it did say euro if you look closely the euro sign is next to the amount lol
Lynnette *******
@John *******
it wasn't visible but is now.
Jim ********
@Lynnette ******
Sorry Lynnette but the post hasn’t been edited so you must have just missed the € symbol when you read it
Lynnette *******
@Jim *******
others also didn't see a euro sign when it was first posted. He replied in another comment saying euros. Either way, his post wasn't clear to everyone.
Jim ********
@Lynnette ******
All I’m saying is it wasn’t edited and the € was there from the start 🤷‍♂️
