My DTV application was unexpectedly rejected today (6 Nov at 11:54 a.m.) with HCM, Vietnam
Timeline:
• 27 Oct: Submitted application (7:10 p.m.)
• 28 Oct: Further info requested → submitted same day
• 4 Nov: Emailed consulate (visa expiring 9 Nov); later that day status changed from Document Check → Pending Approval
• 6 Nov, 7am: Emailed again early morning (tomorrow is the last working day before my visa expiry)
• 6 Nov, 11:54 a.m.: Received rejection
I’m an immigration advisor of NZ, working for a Chinese company, and I included:
• 6 months of payslips, bank statements, tax records, employment letter, the company registration and my license certificate.
• A NZ term deposit of over 1 million THB
• Stayed at Da Nang: boarding pass, hotel bills, visa and visa stamp.
Everything seemed straightforward, so I’m shocked by the refusal.
I can think of three possible reasons for the refusal, but I’d be interested to hear other views:
1. HCM may regard me as able to work locally since I can provide consultations to both Thai nationals and foreigners in Thailand, while the DTV prohibits me from working in Thailand. However, all clients of the company are from mainland China, which is not specifically mentioned in the application. Should I clarify that I am aware of Thai law and will not conduct any local work?
2. I hold both Chinese and New Zealand citizenships, but I applied under my Chinese passport (as only my Chinese health insurance covers me due to my medical conditions). This is not something I can change.
3. I used a New Zealand term deposit instead of a savings account, which might be seen as funds not immediately accessible. Should I instead provide proof of a regular savings account?
Has anyone experienced something similar or know what might have triggered this?
Hello, I applied in Hanoi for a soft power visa Muy Thai on Friday around 5 PM. On Monday around 5 PM, it went into "pending approval" and I haven't heard anything since 😥
I applied for DTV on 29th October in Sai gon and got additional documents requested on 30th, which I send back on super early morning of 31st Oct, around 4 am.
I want to know how many more days is it gonna take? Is it a good sign or bad sign that I am not hearing anything back from them? I applied under remote employee category.
Update: I just got pending approval today, is it a good thing?
Canadian passport, considering applying for soft powerfrom Vietnam (so I can scope out gyms before choosing which one) as the Ottawa embassy is experiencing a large backlog.
I read a few months ago that the 500k proof needed to be "stamped by the bank" but when I did a "test" application, the site didn't specifically ask for it to be anything more than statements.
So I'm asking for clarification, can I just (CONDENSED ALL INTO ONE) the pdfs of the last 3 months of bank statements, proving the funds? Or do I need to get an official letter from the bank?
I have appreciated all the info the group has provided.
Dvt inquiry.. can anyone confirm a fixed rate bond confirmation statement letter ok for proof of funds regarding the 500000 tbh ..its maturity date in March so want to apply in February from the UK..thanks in advance
Looking for some advice on whether this DTV is even an option for me, please 💖
- it will be just for me and my dependent child, I can show a bank statement of 550,000 THB but only just got this money into my account (haven't had it consecutively for 3 months, and I don't have enough to show it for both of us - so she would be my dependent, but do I need to show 550,000 for each of us or just for myself (if she is my dependent?)
- I'm 32 and child is 3. UK citizens
- we used the UK visa free option for 90 days (extended), did one visa run (stayed away 2x nights) then did another 90 days visa free option (extended), then left. No overstaying.
Is this even a possibility for me? Keep getting mixed advice. Open to different options 😊
Anyone here applying for a DTV from Cambodia? I applied on Oct 5 and was only asked for my arrival stamp on the next day and no further documents have been requested since then.
It’s been a month now with no update. I checked with the embassy this week, and they said the delay is due to a high volume of applications.
Anyone know the longest waiting time for DTV processed in Cambodia?
